After 12 years of service, our 21-cubic-ft Kenmore refrigerator failed. I was initially interested in finding an LG-branded unit, but after comparing this Kenmore to the similar 24-cubic ft LG, I concluded that they are essentialy the same unit, and an employee of the local Sears store confirmed it: LG manufactures refrigerators for the Kenmore brand. Pros: The top-freezer design may look old-school, but we find it functionally superior to bottom freezer and side-by-side models...not to mention it is generally less expensive. This particular unit has all kinds of space, and some thought went into the design. It has a drawer for meats and cheeses that is the whole width of the fridge. The door can hold so much you might not even need the rest of the fridge. The LED lighting looks great and should last the life of the fridge. The icemaker is convenient. Cons: The day after purchasing this unit, it went on sale for about ninety dollars less. This refrigerator is not going to impress your friends because it is a conventional top-freezer design, nothing special to look at. There is no water dispenser, although for more money, you can buy a similar unit with the water dispenser. For several hundred dollars less than this unit, you could opt for a slightly smaller refrigerator that may serve your needs just as well. Other thoughts: This refrigerator is ideal for a family. If you have a spot that can handle the height (~67.5") and you appreciate the ease of use that goes with the conventional top-freezer design, this is a spacious option for you. If you are considering purchasing online and having it delivered, our experience in that regard was excellent. I ordered online in the afternoon, and then I got a robo-call in the evening confirming the delivery window (it's a two-hour window) for the next morning, 7am-9am. They called around 8:20am to let me know they would be there shortly, showed up at 8:30am, and had no issue getting the new unit in and the old unit out. They hooked up the water line for the icemaker as well. They were very professional and friendly. Whichever refrigerator you choose, I can recommend ordering online from Sears and just having it delivered...although you will probably still want to go out and look at them, touch them, open the doors, etc. to help in the decision-making process.
I purchased this refrigerator, for it's smaller size, and the space I had available in my kitchen. I was loving it until my ice maker broke...after only 1.5 years. It was $229.00 to repair it! What a HUGE disappointment. It should have lasted longer, and warantee did not cover. :(
I bought this refrigerator about 1 month ago, because my other one quit making ice. I will never buy another 3 door refrigerator again, you loose too much space. This one has a lot of space for my food.
I loved this fridge the second I saw it. It's spacious and the lighting is a great feature. It keeps my food at the temperatures I want.
However, I've had it for 3 months and my shelf broke already. Not the glass, but the plastic surrounding it. I only stored a carton of eggs on it too so it wasn't the weight that broke it. Overall, great fridge, flimsy parts.
