NOT "cubed" ice!

I only had the unit delivered yesterday, so can't speak to performance yet. I could not find it in any nearby store, so had to order it sight-unseen. Just a couple of things to know if you are considering this model. The description of "ice style" indicates CUBED ice. The photo of the freezer appears to show CUBED ice in the tray. In reality, it produces the same half-moon shape cubes all the others do (a bit smaller, so a nicer size, but still the same old ice maker ice cubes). The main reason I chose this Kenmore over a similar Maytag was the ice style, so I am quite disappointed. The description indicates the door is not reversible on the stainless model, yet the photo clearly shows the plugs in the door for relocating the handles. I did online chat before ordering, to confirm the doors were reversible, and they ARE. If you need the door hinged on the left, as I did, and don't want to do it yourself, you need to order the unit in-store and tell the salesperson you need the door reversed, and it will be done before it is delivered. The delivery/installers will NOT reverse it in your home (I was told) at delivery. Also - if you want the installers to hook up the ice maker for you, be sure you have a brand new ice maker supply line - they will not hook up a previously used line and will leave you with your new fridge sitting in the middle of the floor, like they did to us. Otherwise - this is a very attractive refrigerator. The grey cabinet is much more pleasing than the black sides I had on my previous stainless steel fridge. The door/drawer have a very substantial feel, and the lighting is fabulous! The door bins are very sturdy - the crisper and deli drawers, not so much (but no worse than any other brand or model that I looked at in-store). Much quieter than my old fridge when its running. Overall, very pleased with the unit, time will tell how it performs.

missing parts, high pirch sound and ice in the freezer

|

The ref was delivered on Aug. 12, 2019, I did not notice that the lower tray in the freezer was missing until after two days. I went to sears and talked to the sales person regarding this issue. He had it ordered, and told me that it will be delivered within a week. Anyway, I went back on September 9, 2019 with the same issue the salesperson told me that because of the holiday it will take another 2 weeks before getting the tray. I think that's BS cause they already got my business.

Occasionally, the ref has been emitting a very high pitch sound which is irritating. Also, the freezer has an ice build up. I may have to call the service department one of this days to address the problem.

Overall, I like it!

|

I like the look of this refrigerator and the size for our small space works well. A couple of things are not great: I was told that it will slide forward until it is stocked. It has been stocked with lots of food but it still continues to slide forward. Also, I use a soft cloth and a little soap with water to gently clean but it streaks...kinda bugs me.

Stopped working after 4 years of PART TIME USE

|

It's a seasonal fridge for us. Never use in winter except this past winter. Went to fire it up this summer and lights on and fan working but not cold. Almost poisoned family for 4th picnic as I had stored much food and meat in there in preparation.

Problem in less than three months!

|

I bought this refrigerator based primarily on the fact that my current one was 18 years old (never once had a problem) and it seemed like the appropriate time.
At first, I was really happy with the unit. I liked the bottom freezer and the ease of getting items from the top refrigerator area. Then, yesterday, I opened the bottom freezer and found everything defrosted. I'm not sure how long it had been off, but even the ice cubes had completely melted. Then the fun began.
I called for service. It took forty five minutes for an agent to answer; then I spent another 50 minutes talking to three different customer service agents to finally get the assurance that some one would be here in two days. I thought that was as good as it could get, so I agreed. I was reasonably happy. Not for long. In the morning I received an email saying that Sears needed to reschedule my appointment and to call the 800 number listed. I did. After waiting forty minutes for an agent, I was told that I had been reschedule for a later date. The date was 15 days later than the original date. Imagine, I have a new refrigerator and I cannot use it for 15 more days!! I then asked to speak to someone who could do better. To make it short, I spoke to two more agents ( forty more minutes), the last of which said she would transfer me to "Customer Solutions". I said OK. Then I was disconnected. All that time for nothing. I will not buy Sears again. No wonder they have financial problems.
Do not buy this item or possibly any from Sears. (I will put in another review when (if) my refrigerator is repaired.)
