The microwave came package well. The light and air vent work well. Seems to be the perfect fit for my family. Kind of heavy for one person install
This is the 3rd Kenmore over the range Microwave that has been installed since 2009. This particular one we purchased in May 2017, and it stopped working this week (Dec 2018). The first 2 gave us buzzing sounds and some sparking and eventually stopped working but we felt that was our warning. This one just stopped, blacked out. Overall this was the noisiest of them all. The beeping is annoying as others have said but I need the beeping to remind me so I didn't think it was always that bad. The door was probably the most annoying part, it takes some effort to open and closes hard/loud. We have a small house and our bedroom is directly over this so it can get annoying in that regard, and it has woken up the baby with the door closing. The other issue has been the clock reset, if the power goes out, the clock goes out and if you forget to set it before you start something in the microwave then...it's just confusing that's all, we lose power a lot so.... I got used to it, but try to get an 86 year old man to understand it and well... Overall, I felt like we had limited choices for the fit and that was actually why we purchased this, others were more expensive as well, but we probably should have put out the extra $ for the better rated one, we are paying for it now.
Purchased on November 14, 2018. Microwave died randomly as of December 14, 2019 around 11pm. I call today explaining the circumstances I am dealt with and continue being told my warranty is expired. I am then notified that the microwave I bought a year ago was discontinued! People working for sears have no idea why. As a customer who has bought plenty from sears in the past and owns all Kenmore Kitchen appliances I am extremely dissatisfied with their customer service team. No one reached out to me to inform me of the discontinuation, nor that my warranty was on the brink of expiration! Waiting to hear from Kenmore more as I am hoping to receive a refund! Used a $40 microwave for 8 years before this purchase. Absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOULD BY AGAIN
My test for this microwave is how it defrosts a bagel. This microwave failed pretty miserably. Part of the bagel would be frozen, other parts too hot to touch. How is that possible with a rotating table?
On top of that, the beep at the end was insanely loud. Do the designers not have kids? 3 loud beeps, each 3 seconds long, spaced apart by 1 second. Overkill on the noise. And the reminder beep (if you didn't get to the microwave in time) was AGAIN three 3-second long beeps, each separated by 1 second. Why so loud? Who thought that was a good idea? There was no option to reduce the volume.
In the end, our microwave stopped working after about 3 years (inrush current kept tripping the circuit breaker) and I couldn't be happier. Finally get rid of this loud, poorly operating machine. Went back to GE and it is a joy to listen to the chime when my food is done. And my bagels are evenly defrosted.
Don't buy it, unless you can watch it in operation first and are satisfied with the noise it makes.
Microwave died after just 2 years of minimal use. I'm very disappointed.
