Sensor Cooking and Sensor Reheating take the
Just replaced my over range microwave and I love it. I also love the jingle when things are done! It works great and looks great over my matching range!
Bought this model to replace a previous kenmore that we moved to our vacation home. This one had a different and non compatible backplate so some alterations were needed to strengthen the cupboard above and new drills needed to be purchased. Annoying. Because of the alterations needed it didn't get installed for 5 weeks then we were busy and away a lot. So 6 months later it is too late to swap it for a different model which I would've like to have done. The fan is hopeless. It doesn't draw with any force whatsoever. Technical support suggested I place the boiling pan on the back of the stove. I am comparing the fan to the previous Kenmore microwave I had which is probably 8 years old. The bell/beep is harsh and sounds 3 long times, then a minute or so later sounds again, and will keep on sounding until it is cancelled. Totally horrendous sound and unnecessary . I've turned the sound off but this of course means I can't use the sound for the timer or hear it for any other feature. An example of the poor manufacturing of this product. I tried the sensor to reheat a plate of food and it totally overheated it. So not a very advanced feature. Some reviews have mentioned the number plate bubbling up - it is covered with a peel off plastic that is not obvious to see, so you can just remove it. In conclusion, I'm comparing this model to my older (still stainless steel) Kenmore microwave, and the build quality (including the feel of the door opening and closing), look, fan, features and bell are all worse than the older model. So I am very disappointed as I thought I was spending more than the minimum to get a good product.
I have been using this microwave for over 6 months and I am pleased with how it cooks and features. However it has two very irritating flaws that make an otherwise great microwave only OK.
Flaw #1 - The irritating BEEPING at the end of cooking. This has been noted by many other uses. I thought I would get used to it but even after 6 months it still drives me up the wall.
Flaw #2 - After installing the microwave I noticed I could not see what was cooking clearly. It is like you are looking through a piece of waxed paper. All you see is a blurry image and cannot tell when what you are cooking is boiling or cheese has melted. I thought I had a defective unit, so I went to my Sears store and inspected the microwaves on display. All of the Kenmore and Frigidaire OTR microwaves had the same problem. I did find one GE unit on diplay did not have this problem. I asked the salesman "What Gives?" but he had no idea. I even called Sears Service and they confirmed that the window is translucent instead of clear but could not tell me the reason for this. Please understand that I am not talking about the perforated screen in the door. This problem is caused by the film inside the door not being clear.

Dead Mar 27, 2019.
We bought this July 2016 and last week it just died. Just stopped working right in the middle of warming up food. It’s been 2 years 7 months since we bought it. Piece of ****! Our last microwave lasted 14 years and it was a simple white Samsung with no bells or whistles. Don’t buy this unless you enjoy buying microwaves every 2 1/2 years.
The microwave is not powering on .We purchased it on March 2017 . In less than 2 yrs , it's dead ....
