Replaced awesome previous microwave of 14 years with a larger and improved model. Already using more often with even better results.
Based on reviews - I purchased this microwave. I've never written a review before; however, very unhappy with this product. I've always had Kenmore appliances, and have not been disappointed. As stated in another review the beep is annoying. Which wasn't a bit deal. Do not like the sensor cooking items. Burnt popcorn, didn't completely cook bacon. Does okay on beverages. Overall, just wished I'd gone with a less expensive Kenmore Microwave. Would have been happier!
This unit is as loud as microwaves from the '80s. And, it cooks EXTREMELY slowly. Definitely do not try to cook more than one thing... Like one pea at a time.
I purchased this product as the finishing touch with all the other Kenmore appliances I purchased after a kitchen remodel.
Not even 6 months after I purchased it, the main PCB board went out and took Sear’s more than a month to repair. (You never know how much you appreciate a microwave until you don’t have one)
Well, it was finally repaired in the beginning of January, 2018. It is now March 28th, not even 4 months after it had JUST been repaired and I had to call Sear’s again and schedule another appointment. Same issue as the first time.
My biggest piece of advice is stay clear of this microwave. It’s expensive and so cheaply made its not worth the headache. My next appliances will not be Kenmore.
Purchased this microwave. Got it home, installed it, then took off the protective wrap to find there were dents in the front of the door. Returned it and got a new one. And now we are amazed at how loud it is. Also feels clunkier than the 15-year-old model we replaced. Thank goodness we checked online before we bought because online price was $299. I see it’s now back up to $396. Regardless, we will be replacing it with something quieter. Not happy.
It has SO MANY terrible "features". Worst: the "alert" at the end of a cycle. It makes a beep loud enough to wake the dead... and goes off again every 20 seconds or so FOREVER until you get up to tell it to shut up. Also bad: the "defrost" feature is worse than useless: if you honestly tell it what you are defrosting it will cook the edges and leave the core frozen... trying to fudge it is futile. Running the fan at less-than-turbo does not make it much quieter: it sounds like they stick a pencil eraser into the fan path to slow it. Press a number button and then take 5 seconds to think about the next e.g. how many seconds... and it starts by itself.
It does have plenty of power and serves OK to heat things up, and the exhaust fan works to keep the kitchen cool while using my gas oven. Still, IMO the designers and engineers responsible for this disaster ought to be fired!
Ordered this microwave and pick it up at the store it was defective (the top bolt where you attach the microwave to the cabinet was missing). I returned it, Sears wanted me to pay $70.00 to have a new one delivered to my home, and wait 4 to 5 to pick it up at the store, so I went to one of their competitors and purchased a microwave the same day. sears customer service is unacceptable.
