I have used the same canister vacuum just different versions over the last 30 years. I have back issues and this vacuum allows me to do all my cleaning (dusting, upholstery and ceiling areas) without hardly any bending. The canister is so light weight that it is not an issue to pick up when I have to lift it which is not often. Talked my boss into one for our nursing facility. He was so impressed with the ease of use and suction he had me buy 2 more.
I have been using the previous design for more that 10 years for my carpet and house cleaning business! All of my crews loved them! We loved the fact that you can use these on both carpets and floors with good attachments! However, with this new design there are a few major flaws that will makes us look for another brand! The turn on switch is located on the body which is a huge problem! When you vacuum the stairs for example and hold the vacuum in your hand you always hit the switch with your leg turning it off multiple times no matter how careful you are. Also when you vacuum carpets and you move the cord it usually falls on the switch turning the vacuum off. Another issue is with the attachments being attached the to wand! Whos idea was that? They never stay in place EVER! They keep falling off! The new floor attachment is also bad! Very cheaply made and it scratched hardwood floors!
Works great, sleek.
I had an older version of these series, gave it to my mom. Bought this and used once. The cord does not have a little hook to stabilize when it's out, so when you vacuum the heat of the motor makes the cord warm and pulls the cable in. In other words, it unplugs itself from the wall outlet. Returned the item to Sears, appeared it is 4 days late (45 days return policy). Got charged $20 and the rest was given back in a store credit. When asked that the appliance is defective, Sears employee told me that I have to return it directly to Kenmore in order to receive the full refund. It did not make sense. I buy the Kenmore from sears but if there is a problem I have to return it myself directly to the company? So Sears only sells the appliance and if the appliance has a problem you have to deal with the company directly? NONSENSE. No wonder Sears gets out of business slowly.
Great vacuum! Light weight and easy to maneuver through the house
I wish I'd read the reviews before purchasing this vacuum. I've bought this style of canister for years and found the changes in this new design to be both disappointing and dysfunctional. Although the specifications in the website listing state controls are on the handle, this is FALSE. The on/off control, previously on the handle, is now a foot pedal--a horrible idea. Also, this vacuum sounds much louder when in operation than the previous model. Plus, the attachments go on the wand rather than in the machine body--another big loser idea, as they get in the way. Overall, I'm really disappointed in this new version. Having bought this style vac for many, many years (we have an animal sanctuary and they eventually get stinky from hair and need replacement), I will now never buy it again. It feels lighter, which is a plus, and does vacuum well, but the negatives outweigh the positives. Go back to the old design!
