I have used the same canister vacuum just different versions over the last 30 years. I have back issues and this vacuum allows me to do all my cleaning (dusting, upholstery and ceiling areas) without hardly any bending. The canister is so light weight that it is not an issue to pick up when I have to lift it which is not often. Talked my boss into one for our nursing facility. He was so impressed with the ease of use and suction he had me buy 2 more.
I have been using the previous design for more that 10 years for my carpet and house cleaning business! All of my crews loved them! We loved the fact that you can use these on both carpets and floors with good attachments! However, with this new design there are a few major flaws that will makes us look for another brand! The turn on switch is located on the body which is a huge problem! When you vacuum the stairs for example and hold the vacuum in your hand you always hit the switch with your leg turning it off multiple times no matter how careful you are. Also when you vacuum carpets and you move the cord it usually falls on the switch turning the vacuum off. Another issue is with the attachments being attached the to wand! Whos idea was that? They never stay in place EVER! They keep falling off! The new floor attachment is also bad! Very cheaply made and it scratched hardwood floors!
Stop working after 4 months I bought it
It worked great until it died after a year. The motorized carpet cleaner died all the sudden. Sears won’t help you neither by phone or at a sears store. Be aware !!!
So I have had Kenmore Vacuum canister style cleaners for over 40 years. I was in need for a new one. Purchased the 200 series, it appeared to have everything I needed per the description online. It lasted about 5 month before the beater bar started to not engage/ there wasno power , therefore, not functional. Trying to get assistance was a true challenge. Per support, I had to take it back for repairs to a specific kind of Sears store, not close to me. Did take it back but they told me a different story. After many discussions with support, the unit was replaced. That one lasted exactly 12 months and 4 days,, with the same problem. This time, support provided me with a faster response, by issuing me a gift card for the full amount. Problem is there is nothing online that does not reports the same kinds of problems after a few months. The net is Kenmore products has declined in quality and reliability. I have lost my faith in this product. If you have a mind to spend over $200 for a unit that may last 1 yr. go for it , as for me, no thanks.
