Description Specifications
Make Laundry Day A Breeze With the Kenmore 81442 24" 1.6 cu. ft. electric laundry center, you can operate the washer and dryer simultaneously, getting laundry done faster. 6 wash cycles and 4 dry cycles let you design a custom clean for every load. Give your clothing and fabrics the gentle treatment they deserve with this laundry center.

The Perfect Dry

The 3.4 cu. ft. dryer uses auto dry cycles with an integrated thermostat to control temperatures and sense when fabrics are dry, eliminating heat damage and taking the guesswork out of drying. An Air Dry setting takes it easy on delicate fabrics by tumbling clothes without heat. Stop babysitting your dryer with the Wrinkle Guard option. This feature helps prevent wrinkles from setting in by periodically tumbling clothes for up to 40 minutes after the cycle is done.

A Thorough Clean

The 1.6 cu. ft. washer is designed with a dual action impeller. This flat, low-profile impeller combines wash basket motion and impeller action to move clothes in different directions, delivering a gentle and complete clean.

Give Fabrics TLC

A fabric softener dispenser helps you load fabric softener with ease. This convenient dispensing system delivers fabric softener to the wash basket at just the right time in the cycle. The stainless steel wash basket is designed to resist dents, chips and corrosion for a gentle wash that won't snag or pull on your fabrics.

Stay Quiet

A soft-close glass lid won't slam shut thanks to hinges that allow the

Brand new! - Broken!

We purchased this unit and it sat untouched while we finished renovating. A month 1/2 later the washing machine doesnt work (which still has tags on it) and now Sears is refusing to replace it. The part needed to fix it is on backorder and now we are still without a working washer. Sears customer service is unwilling to help us in any way.

BEWARE

Make sure this appliance will work in your apartment/home before purchase. The power cord that comes hard wired to this unit is NOT your normal 3 or 4 prong appliance plug. I don’t know where Kenmore got the idea that this was a common enough outlet to install it on an appliance but myself nor anyone I have spoken with in my attempt to resolve my problem, has ever seen this outlet installed in a home/apartment. So here’s what your options are. 1. Buy an adapter (which the manual prohibits) and run the risk of frying your brand new appliance/voiding the warranty or worse, possibly causing an electrical fire and burning your apartment to the ground. 2. Spend another $500 on hiring an electrician to come install the correct outlet. 3. Enjoy your new but useless $1100 decoration. Good luck!

BEWARE of Sears Appliances and Extended Service agreement:
We purchased a Kenmore combination washer/dryer, Model number 81452,
from our local Sears store in September 2018 along with a one-year
warranty. This is the smallest Kenmore stackable washer/dryer and the
largest one that would fit in our space. We started using the machine
one month after purchase and immediately needed service assistance. The
'EA' code appeared and the washing machine stopped working. The repair
person Sears sent out was not a Sears employee, rather Sears contracts
with another company for repair calls. The repairman told us we were
using too much soap and overfilling the tub, which means you can wash
only a handful of garments at one time. These two problems are not
alluded to in the manual, but we made the adjustments accordingly.
Starting in December, the washing machine began turning itself on when
no clothes or water was in the tub. It wasn't until January that another
contract repairman came out to assess the problem, said we needed a new
part and ordered it. We learned in February that the part was no longer
being manufactured. On March 11, Sears sent out a Sears employee, who
told us the washing machine needed a new control board. The new control
board was installed in April and the machine worked for a couple of
weeks before turning itself on again with nothing in it, often in the
middle of the night. More parts were ordered and installed again in
May. Again the machine started turning itself on and spinning wildly
with no clothes in the washer. Since we started using the machine, it
worked minimally for two months and virtually down completely after. At
this point we were totally frustrated with the run around with service
people and incessant delays working with Sears to resolve the issue. We
felt we purchased a lemon and followed steps to get a replacement
machine combo. However, Sears Protection Agreement Department turned
down two applications from us in June and July on the pretext that the first
two service calls were not performed by their own contractors and did not count as a service call or complaint. In
summary, our experience with Sears Kenmore product and Service agreement
is one of frustration and complete dissatisfaction. The support provided
under their one-year warranty was slow and minimal...a joke, without the
humor. Beware of Kenmore, in particular this model washer, and if you purchase Sears extended warranties
and need service, insist that they send out a Sears employee. We will
never patronize Sears again.
