At the risk of sounding arrogant, I own a European-made canister vacuum that cost more than four times what this one did. My husband and I bought this because we had excess Sears points that were about to expire. I never knew vacuuming could be so much fun! It's not as quiet as our fancy vacuum, but it cleaned nearly as well. The small pet fur attachment is sensational! I vacuumed all pet beds plus some velveteen furniture, plus an area rug and hardwood floors. Considering its price, this certainly is a very fine canister vacuum that cleans very well. Yes, I highly recommend this vacuum for its ease-of-use, cleaning ability, not to mention its state-of-the-art looks! Go Sears!
This vacuum was a disappointment compared to older models we have purchased. It's bulky, not user friendly, and the attachments are worse than older models. My advice is to build a vacuum for quality and not price. The same problem develops in all of the models that I have previously purchased. The electrical connection between the wand and the carpet power head start to arc and lose connection. This has happened on the last 3 models we have purchased. Each new model lasts about 1/3 of the time as the previous. The parts are so expensive, it doesn't make sense to replace them. Now I am reconsidering fixing one of my older models if the parts are still available. I would not recommend this model if you have an older model that still works. As far as picking up pet hair, dust, and everyday cleaning, this vacuum doesn't cut it. Consumer Reports gave this model a high rating. I would have to disagree.
I bought this to replace my old Kenmore Canister and am happy with the performance and ease of use while moving from bare floors to carpet with the power head - I especially like the power level adjuster. That said, the separate bare floor attachment is a disappointment with very few brushes that don't pick up much. The holder on the handle for the other small attachments I thought would be helpful but it only gets in the way for the most part.so I had to remove it
I'm a Kenmore Powermate fan and have many overbthe years. This latest version is almost perfect except for 2 features. First, it needs an extension wand as the extendable handle gets too heavy to hold up for vacuuming furniture and lamps. Second, there isn't an upholstery brush, only the pet powermate; when you add that to the handle the weight is once again quite heavy. I also had trouble with door on the end that houses the filter popping off several times. However the power and flexibility remain true!
