I purchased the Kenmore 5.3 cu ft range, it took 4 delivery attempts in order for us to receive the range. It appears to be working fine. But after the experience I had with Sears on getting the range delivered, will not purchase another appliance item or electronics that needs to be delivered. Worst experience trying to communicate to Non-English speaking staff on the 800 number. Don't understand why all of the American companies are outsourcing their customer service to foreign countries with individuals that dont speak descent English.
I bought the Bisque and I like the color. So far, it seems to cook well. I have not yet baked anything in it. My old Kenmore range wasn't cooking as hot so I have to be careful to make adjustments when cooking. The Electric coils do not sit flat, so even with the unit being level the elements are not. You cannot clean the drip trays under the coils without taking out the coils as the drip trays completely encircle the electical connector. The coils just snap in and out but this is an area that I fear will break since I have to keep taking them out to clean up any spills. I was told the top lifted to clean but it does not. The instruction book tells you a lot about cleaning the oven but NOTHING about cleaning the range and elements!! I did not find the controls to be intuitive. I really had to work through them with the book. In particular the timer display was very confusing when trying to program it. 01 is actually 1 minute and 30 is actually 30 minutes. It changes to a clock format with seconds after you select "start". If you forget to push "start" after selecting "bake" and the temp. you want the oven doesn't "start" to pre-heat. The storage door underneath is not deep enough (front to back) to hold a cookie tray and the broiler tray barely fits. I was unable to put as much in this drawer as my last kenmore electric stove. The real problem is it is almost impossible to open once full as the handle doesn't really let you get a grip on the door. You have to pay extra to get the correct electrical hook up for your area. that is an additional $30+ These were probably designed for rentals but I question how they will hold up.
The description for this stove states "•The variable broiler lets you set the broiler anywhere between 350 degrees and full broil, for a wide range of meats, melts and meals," My husband--the broiler in the family--was very upset to find out the broiler control only allowed a "hi" and "lo" setting. Other than that I love being able to get a stove in bisque to match my refrigerator. Also like the large oven window. The stove has a raised edge that is higher than my old kenmore stove to prevent spills or boil-overs from flowing over the sides. If it wasn't for the broiler issue, I probably would have given it 5 stars.
I was so excited for my new stove. It is the Bisque with the warmer draw. My nightmare is that you cannot control the temp on the large right back burner. It stays bright red hot, even on settings 2 or 3. And then for a while it's just warm and no heat, then all of a sudden, all by itself, it goes bright red hot again. I have damaged so many dishes. Now I only use that burner when boiling my kettle. So with my stove I have only 3 operable burners
I'M so glad they have not done away with the bisque color stove. I still have a bisque color refreg. and could not be able to redo whole kitchen just because stove broke.
I always go with the Kenmore brand when I can and have never been disappointed.
Needed a simple stove/oven at a reasonable price. Best deal we could find.
