I purchased this item about six months ago. I love the convection roast feature. It roasts veggies beautifully and makes crispy fries without all the oil. I love the third rack in the oven. It is a nice feature and provides extra baking space. The top cleans up alright. I have poured water in the bottom to 'steam' clean oven and it worked very well. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a new oven. We rarely eat out so this oven gets a workout in my home.
The product purchased and delivered is not the one pictured as that one was not all black.......minor difference....but when it was delivered the delivery man discovered and photographed a dent in the side....told us we would receive a call about the delivery......none was received. Now the day before Thanksgiving and first time we used the oven ...the light bulb exploded because an appliance bulb for oven was not used inside of oven........maybe could be considered little issues but most annoying to be sure......maybe next Kenmore product will receive more thought.
Only had it for 1-1/2 weeks and so far it works great.
Replaced a 30 yr-old coil top range with this item. I was very nervous about replacing such a well-made product with today's expensive disposables (nothing's built to last these days). This product exceeds my expectations. I'm glad I stuck with the Kenmore Brand. The cooktop is definitely high maintenance to keep polished and clean (all ceramic glass cooktops are) but for the overall performance of this one, it's soo worth it. I haven't enjoyed cooking this much in years. This range cooks and bakes evenly. Everything turns out perfect and delicious. Its true about the need for pots and pans with even bases, but I'd recommend you read the ranges owners manual before purchasing new ones. I bought the 3 yr. warranty for peace-of-mind as I get accustomed to the use of the glass cooktop. I had to retire my cast iron cookware and enameled teapot (these are not recommended for use with the ceramic glass cooktops.) I suggest you read the ENTIRE manual BEFORE you begin using the range. Now the PERKs; 1) This range has an actual control **** for the cooktop warming feature. Its so convenient. Many models don't have this. 2) It has two (2) different ways to clean the Oven. A steam clean option -where you pour filtered water in the bottom- for lighter messes AND an all out burn-off to ashes self-cleaning mode. Awesome! 3) I can only rave about the Turbo Boil feature. I can FINALLY get a properly seared steak with my Circulon pans with fairly little effort. Who knew??? 4) I simply LOVE the DESIGN of the body style. It has softly curving corners and rounded edges that make it look as sleek as a nice designer addition to my kitchen. Most new ranges in this price point square off and are boxy and flat.
CONCERNS; I've only got this one concern. I've noticed that, for reasons I haven't quite figured out yet, while using high cooking temperatures my pots have a tendency to "coast" across the cooktop. I've triple checked that the range is in fact level and balanced. It is and always has been. I scrubbed the exteriors of the pots to insure there's no oil of any kind. I've used only heavyweight quality pots. Still coasts when the heating element is set to a high temperature and activated (i.e. fully lit up). This doesn't occur often but it's a little disconcerting to reach for the pan's handle to toss additional ingredients into it only to have it slide away from you. I've had the stove 1 full month and cook with it daily. I rarely use high heat and don't leave the stove unattended while cooking. So far, it's happened with two diagonal elements. So it's NOT a level thing. I'll update with any additional findings.
UPDATE: Turns out, the range was level side-to-side but NOT back to front. Made NUMEROUS calls to customer service to correct the IMPROPER INSTALLATION issue. The installers should have insured the correct balance. Eventhough I PURCHASED a 3-year warranty with the product STILL had GREAT DIFFICULTY getting Sears to correct issue. Buyer Beware!
I purchased this stove to match a black stainless steel refrigerator that I was also purchasing. They didn't have one in stock for me to look at at the time. It takes forever to preheat and you have to preheat it. The convection then doesn't cook any faster than a regular stove. The storage drawer in the bottom is extremely flimsy and is hard to push back in. I would not buy it again.
