After reading some of the previous reviews, I was a little dubious about this range. The Kenmore Elite model has gotten excellent ratings from Consumer Reports, but this (regular) Kenmore model had not been rated by CR. However, our other kitchen appliances are (regular)Kenmore, and I wanted our new range to match. I spent a lot of time deciding between the two ranges, but finally went with the (regular)Kenmore, instead of the Elite. I am very happy with this range! I love the induction cooktop. I can't believe how responsive the burners are. I really think it is more responsive than gas. I already had metal pans (double-checked then with a magnet), and they work great. Our previous range was a smooth-top, so I am used to using the cleaning cream -- not only to clean, but to protect the surface. (I buy the big bottle at **********). Unlike some of the reviews, I think the cooktop is very easy to keep clean. Some of the other reviewers complained about the smell when they first used the oven. It is VERY important to follow the instructions in the owner's manual BEFORE you first test the oven. This only takes about 10 minutes at the most. I wiped down the entire range, both inside and out, as the manual describes. Then, I thoroughly checked for any little bits of the "blue film" (from the factory--to protect the surface during shipping). Even though we had pretty responsible delivery-installers, they didn't get all the blue film removed. Some bits were left around the door frame. Since it's a plastic film, I think this might be what caused the smell some other reviewers have complained about. Once I went through these steps, I tested the oven. The initial smell was about the same as the smell from any other other oven running a self-clean cycle -- and was easily handled by turning on our hood fan. I'm still getting used to the convection oven. I've used convection before, and really like it. The temperature is accurate (I tested it with my oven thermometer), but because of the convection, things cook a little more quickly. I'm really happy with the oven, just have to get used to the quicker cooking time. The controls are very easy to use. One review said the clock doesn't work when you are using the stove -- I don't know what they mean, as mine works fine. The only criticism I have has to do with the storage drawer. It's a good size -- I can easily store my pans there. But I wish they would have put the drawer on "rollers" like my old oven. This drawer just "slides", so doesn't move as smoothly/easily. I am happy to have the storage drawer, instead of the warming drawer like in the Elite. Also, if you have small children, you need to be aware that the oven/front part of the range can get hot when the oven is on higher temps. If you want convection/induction-smoothtop, this is a great buy!
We have the original Elite version of this stove in our old house and upon purchasing a new home bought this stove because we love Induction cooking so much. The front two burners do not heat evenly and as a matter of fact in trying to cook two eggs half of the eggs cook and the other half stays raw. Just like the demo when there is half the pan missing! Plus when I try to get warranty service I had to say the element was dead because a partial heat is ok apparently?!?!? In my life I have only owned Sears appliances and tools, that will probably change as ********** would not treat me this way and I have just started using them! You really blew it Sears and I see why you are struggling as a company. Your customer service has become terrible.
This is my first time using an induction range and I have really enjoyed it so far. It will boil a medium sized pot of water in about 1 minute. However, it is a little loud. Must come with the technology. Ok for me, but my cat runs in the other room when I use the power boost mode. The oven portion is also fairly decent. While it take a decent amount of time to pre-heat, it does bake well. The controls are intuitive and the surface is easy to clean.
Had this range delivered in October of 2017. Within 60 days, touch panel failed, burning out the board controlling the oven. Waiting for the part to arrive meant no oven for weeks. After the repairman left from installing the new oven controller, the oven would not get above 350 degrees. Called Sears again, repairman now says main oven element is burned out (obvious rectangular mark in bottom of oven). Now the element has to be ordered, so more time without a fully functional oven. The repairman is not sure if Sears will replace the burned oven bottom section in what WAS a brand new appliance. I was also told to never use the self cleaning function of the self cleaning oven, or it is likely to burn more parts out. Really?
Been a Kenmore buyer for decades. Never again. No wonder Sears is closing store and approaching bankruptcy. I figure I should be entitled to a new range at this point. The repairman tried to sell me an extended warranty for $300. l I guess I have no choice but to buy it at this point.......
We go this online during the 4th of July sale. It was marked down to $999. With ************* + tax we ended up paying $1,050. As of two weeks of use I am loving it. It is straightforward and easy to use. Cleaning the top is easy. I haven't use the oven yet but I will update this review when I do.
Tips before or after buying:
1. Go through your pots and pan and check if its induction ready(just stick a magnet into the bottom of the pan)
2. Experiment on how the heating capacity of each stove top as it is different from one top to another.

We are very much enjoying this induction range the burners are fast and work well with the induction cookware. We also use separate "hobs" for the several items that were not designed for induction burners. Heat is very quick and controllable almost matching a gas burner for temperature control. The standard oven is the first one we have ever used that completed baking a loaf of bread precisely on the time listed in the recipe. The convection oven is amazing for roasting and gets the heat to the food better and shortens cooking time. Clean up on the range top is easy and we use the glass top cleaner, the pots and pans also need to be cleaned with the cleaner if food is spilled on them. The oven has not needed cleaning yet.
No product defects at all. We recommend this range to anyone looking for an induction range.
