Purchased this dishwasher after our 18 year old KitchenAid (that came with the house 10 yrs ago) finally died. Looked at several different models before selecting this one. Things that tipped the scales in favor of this model: - ball bearing drawer slides on the upper rack. It glides in and out super smoothly. - Smart Wash feature - stops washing once it detects that the wash water is already clean. - Great selection of cleaning cycle options. - Good looking design - SUPER QUIET - 39 dB I installed it myself, and it was pretty straightforward. It would have been nice if the installation guide was available online, since it listed the parts necessary for installation. The dishwasher came with a drain line, which was nice, but it did not come with the connector needed to hook up the water line ( a 3/8" compression to 3/4" hose thread adapter). There are a number of available adjustments to make to accommodate different sized openings. Once installed, I really appreciated the design and the look. The control LEDs, including the timer, are visible on the top of the door, just peeking out from under the countertop. So, I can see how much time is remaining in a wash cycle, which is a good thing, because a Smart Wash cycle can take > 3h! (The manual says that it trades off time for efficiency, using less water, but taking a longer time.) It truly is really quiet too! While it's running, the only sound I can hear is the sound of the water running down the drain. I've also noticed that the intelligent design of the tines in the racks allows me to stack in a lot more dishes than my old dishwasher. It's only been a week, but so far I've been very pleased. Dishes come out clean. It's nice and quiet, and it looks good in my kitchen.
... and it is bad most of the time. When it works, the dishes are very clean and the machine certainly is quiet. But this dishwasher keeps stopping in mid-cycle, and a repairman who looked at it said that the water was not hot enough. We live in an apartment and cannot adjust the temperature of the water in our kitchen. I know that dishwasher manufacturers "recommend" a water temperature of at least 120 degrees F, but apparently the 14793 dishwasher simply will not operate if the water is not that hot. If this is the case, the manufacturer should emphasize the fact in their sales material or user documentation.
Bought this product in 2016 for over $1,000. In that time, plastic pieces inside have become brittle. The wheels have fallen off the lower rack and have melted onto the heating element. They know this is happening and refuse to fix it. DO NOT BUY THEIR CHEAPLY MADE PRODUCT!
I thought I would give Sears a chance and I put all new Kenmore Elite appliances in our home when we remodeled our kitchen just over four years ago. This started leaking four years later and the bottom line is that it could not be fixed. I paid $1500 for this washer and am beyond disgusted that I barely got four years of use from it. To add insult to injury, when I considered replacing it with another Kenmore so that I would still have consistency among my appliances, the salesperson told me that I could expect my appliances to last between four and seven years, lamenting that "they don't make them like they used to." Fool me once, Sears...
The dishwasher is so quiet you can't tell it is running. I haven't tried all of the options but so far, everything is coming out very clean.
This was the top of the line dishwasher, so I bought it. Less than five years old, motor goes out, panel goes out and it leaks. it would cost me almost 700.00 to fix it. No thank you
Geez. I had to give it a star to rate it. The only thing this dishwasher will clean is your wallet. 1 1/2 old and it started leaking from the bottom (note...read the other recent poor reviews...same problem. It's day 6 with fans in my house drying out the floors. Had to file a homeowner's claim. Loss our 20% discount. This is not an elite machine. This is not a reliable product/company. They only offered to replace the part. Reliability? Dependability? Shop elsewhere...and always buy a leak detector!
