Purchased this dishwasher after our 18 year old KitchenAid (that came with the house 10 yrs ago) finally died. Looked at several different models before selecting this one. Things that tipped the scales in favor of this model: - ball bearing drawer slides on the upper rack. It glides in and out super smoothly. - Smart Wash feature - stops washing once it detects that the wash water is already clean. - Great selection of cleaning cycle options. - Good looking design - SUPER QUIET - 39 dB I installed it myself, and it was pretty straightforward. It would have been nice if the installation guide was available online, since it listed the parts necessary for installation. The dishwasher came with a drain line, which was nice, but it did not come with the connector needed to hook up the water line ( a 3/8" compression to 3/4" hose thread adapter). There are a number of available adjustments to make to accommodate different sized openings. Once installed, I really appreciated the design and the look. The control LEDs, including the timer, are visible on the top of the door, just peeking out from under the countertop. So, I can see how much time is remaining in a wash cycle, which is a good thing, because a Smart Wash cycle can take > 3h! (The manual says that it trades off time for efficiency, using less water, but taking a longer time.) It truly is really quiet too! While it's running, the only sound I can hear is the sound of the water running down the drain. I've also noticed that the intelligent design of the tines in the racks allows me to stack in a lot more dishes than my old dishwasher. It's only been a week, but so far I've been very pleased. Dishes come out clean. It's nice and quiet, and it looks good in my kitchen.
... and it is bad most of the time. When it works, the dishes are very clean and the machine certainly is quiet. But this dishwasher keeps stopping in mid-cycle, and a repairman who looked at it said that the water was not hot enough. We live in an apartment and cannot adjust the temperature of the water in our kitchen. I know that dishwasher manufacturers "recommend" a water temperature of at least 120 degrees F, but apparently the 14793 dishwasher simply will not operate if the water is not that hot. If this is the case, the manufacturer should emphasize the fact in their sales material or user documentation.
We have had this dishwasher about 5 years or so now. I love that is super quite and cleans really well (giving this 5 stars). I will have to say though, we are on our 5th set of wheels on the bottom rack. The pin holding the wheels on keep breaking so the wheels fall off. This is a bit frustrating since replacing these are not cheap. Overall, I am pleased but disappointed in the quality of the wheels. I rated this as average because of the issues with the wheels.
Stay away!!! Don't make our mistake !!!
Don't be fulled by its space and lots of sprayers, like we were.
THE MAIN ISSUE IS BROWN SLEAZY STUFF ALL OVER INSIDE OF IT, EVEN INSIDE THE SPRAYERS!! DISHWASHER HAS TO STAY OPEN TO KEEP DISHES DRY OR THEY WILL BECOME SLEEK. SPRAYS ARE STUFFED WITH THIS BROWN SFUFF AND IT PREVENTS SPRAYERS FROM WORKING.
We have it for two years and im really tired of having basically useless dishwasher ( for $1000+).
WE HAD TECHNICIAN CHECKED IT OUT, HE COULDN'T HELP IT.
I'm hoping that this one last longer than the first one we purchased in 2014 we had to replace the computer board three times @ $500 each time!!!! not happy about that but my wife loves Kenmore so we purchased this one and I hope it last longer
