Love the look and space

I first bought the freezer to this unit in late 2008(for $950) because it was stainless & had an ice maker then in 2010 we were building a house and I wanted the "built in" look.  The other built in units our there cost two to three times what this set cost so I just bought the matching refrigerator($1100) to match my freezer and had the cabinet maker use these dimensions to fit the pair.  I LOVE IT!!!!!! I did NOT buy the "trim kit" and it looks great in my new house. The space this refrigerator offers is amazing, I love to entertain and I cook a lot & in large quantities, so the wide shelves come in handy for trays and they are adjustable in height!!! I'm selling my huge house and buying a smaller one and will purchase this set again for my new house..... but I will just have the refrigetator in the Kitchen and the freezer in the laundry room, it wont have a built in look but I love/want the extra space of a freezerless refrigerator (the other high end, french door and bottom freezer/refrigerator units cost as much or more that these two combined!) I definately reccommend this unit!!! Never had any problems with it!!! And it is the best pair of units for the price if you want the built in look..... I see the price has gone way up for the units but they are still a great buy!

Broke in first year

Fridge failed in the first year, took over a week to fix. Lost all my food. Repairman said it was not assembled correctly. Out of 6 Kenmore elite appliances I bought 3 have failed in the first year. Then they try to sell you extended warranties because their product is junk. Will never buy kenmore again.

Required service 3 times during the 1st year

|

We love the unit.... when it is working. It lasted about 8 months when the temp rose to 65 degrees. Called service and they found that the Freon charge was low. (Jan '15) Service recharged the unit and added a dye so that if/when it leaked again, they could trace it. (April '15) Unit again got warm and service came out and found that it again had a low Freon charge. Found small leak and recharged. Lasted about 3 weeks (May '15) Called for another service call. I am requesting a replacement this time. I think that it is fair to request a replacement after 3 failures within 4 months.

We have the matching freezer. Works perfectly!! The problem will be that they no longer make my unit so I am up for a fight to replace them both since they match. Wish me luck!!

Less than 1 year...

After 10 months, fridge quit. Repair man is here now. I read the reviews before I bought it, but was hoping mine would be the exception to the poor performance.

Am I just lucky?

I bought this Refrigerator and matching Freezer ($995 each on sale) with the trim kit ($165) in mid-2006 while our new house was being built. The kitchen cabinets were designed to accommodate this great-looking pair. These appliances went to work when we moved into the new house in December 2006, and has served us well ever since. We have had no problems whatsoever, despite heavy usage for nearly eight (8) years. When they do conk out, I hope Sears still carries the same model so I can just slide the new appliances into the same cabinet. Everyone who comes into our kitchen marvels at this pair of beauties and wants to see the inside as well.

Fridge not great Freezer worse

|

Loved the counter depth, looks great. Unfortunately, the freezer constantly forms ice around the edge of the door. It's hard to get off and effects the contents of the freezer. We bought the pair (fridge/freezer) counter depth and we have to constantly rearrange the food in the fridge to get the door to close. Never again! Had them about 5 years.

Terrible door finish!! Buy Frigidaire instead with the extended warranty and keep extending it!

|

Replaced a 5 yr old Kenmore Elite All Refrigerator and All Freezer set. Unfortunately we didn't extend the 5 year warranty. The fridge just died, the service guy said that the cost of diagnostics + parts it would be cheaper to buy new. Our matching freezer was icing up and leaking due to thermostat failure, icemaker didnt work and the door handles were now a different style, so replaced both. PLEASE NOTE!!!! The new size is not 65.5" like the previous Kenmore Elite set, but is now 72"! Needed to remove the upper cabinets! Then discovered that 1. The new door wasn’t magnetic (no biggie), and 2. The new door finish was HORRIBLE to keep clean!!! Every single time we touched the door it left marks. I was polishing it daily and it still looked awful and I am not that fussy. I cleaned the old ones once a month. We switched them out for the Frigidaire. Identical size & interior, smudge resistant. Not as good as the old Kenmore door and handle finish but better than the new Kenmore finish!

Worst product and service ever

|

Read the reviews!! Wish I did. Piece of junk. Stopped cooling after only 11 months. First time took two weeks to get repaired, had a leak in cooling system. Less than a month later same problem, stopped cooling. Parts order for repair were damaged right out of the box. Had to re-order parts and now parts are sitting at my house but Sears won't send a Tech. Not enough repair jobs in my area and Sears won't send a Tech out for one job. So far a total of 5 weeks with no fridge and no compensation. I will never buy from Sears again.

We LOVE this refrigerator

|

We have had this set (refrigerator and matching freezer) for 5 months now. They are attractive, well organized and very lit up on the inside. My daughter said it looked like a convenience store cooler when she first opened it up. The thermostat stays at the exact temperature my husband set it for when it arrived. I love the alarm that goes off if it did not shut all the way (my fault, not faulty closure) It does feel a little more lightweight than my other Kenmore freezer but once we filled it up it stays put. We did not buy the extended warranty (my husband is certified to repair) and did not buy the trim kit but they look great any way. The salesperson was trying to push both on us. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a separate refrigerator and freezer set. I wish we had bought these long ago. Best purchase we have made in years
