I have a Kitchenaid so when I saw this on sale in the store I purchased it for my daughter as the accessories were identical and it had a five year warranty. I ended up keeping it and giving the kitchenaid away. I love the tilt head, the two heavy stainless steel bowls, and the dial for very precise control. It never lugs down, never splatters when starting, has a light over the bowl and the bowls stay firmly in place. there are really no cons except it leaves a small amount of batter in the bottom of the bowl but I like the beater not scraping the very bottom and maybe getting metal in the batter as it wears down. Have not missed my more expensive bulky mixer at all!
We bought this mixer 3 years ago, when the red became available, after comparing it to the Kitchen Aid--it seemed to be a good value, and used all the Kitchen Aid attachments. We have used it less than 25 times. One night it turned on by itself-all the controls were off! We unplugged it, and a few days later we tried it in another outlet-the machine started turning when the controls were off, and the arm was raised! Then, although the light was on, the controls no longer worked. I emailed Sears, but never got a response, so I took it to the store and was told the warranty was only 1 year, and I should've bought the extended plan for 3 years. Now it's worthless, and I will never throw away my money on a Kenmore product again if this is the way they treat their customers. We currently have a complete Kenmore Elite kitchen, but when the time comes we will replace the appliances elsewhere.
The mixer seems to be making a loud noise and needs to be exchanged already. This is my second mixer now with kenmore.
