I purchased the freezer in January; the freezer began to have water leaking from the bottom. In March I called and had service come to check it out. I was told the drain hose was plugged. They cleared the drain hose. The freezer continued to leak. I then checked the reviews and found this review "Freezer is excellent except the overflow reservoir pan to catch the condensate is too small, at times it overflows. Needs a bigger pan and fan." Today I called Sears One Source service and was told this is a "functionality" of the unit. As the freezer is in the garage this really isn't a problem, but if it was in a finished room.....I would not be happy with the leakage “functionality”.
Our Kenmore 21 cu. ft. Elite upright freezer was delivered and set up yesterday between 12 pm and 12:30 pm. It is now 12:20 pm the next day and I've already contacted Sears to repair this unit. It cooled down very well and got to -20 degrees fairly quickly, however, as I walked past the freezer about a half hour ago, I noticed the temperature on the door was blank. There was no light on when I opened the door and the unit was not running. After checking the electrical outlet and circuit breaker and plugging in another electrical item in the outlet, the power source was not the problem. Sears said they could have someone out on the 27th of this month (today is the 9th). After a little complaining, the technician should be here on the 13th. You could say I'm not happy with this piece of "equipment" and I'm sure my rant will never make it for others to see.
The food stays perfectly cold. Excellent. But it is loud. You won't want this in any living area. Secondly, it is really hard to pull the door open. The seal is super strong, which is good for a seal, but grandma can't open it. So if you're strong and have garage space, this freezer is for you.
I absolutely LOVE this freezer! All my food says frost free for months and years. There is plenty of storage space for anything and if you need to quick freeze or electricity goes out you never have to worry about the food inside it. I love that it beeps if you accidentally leave the door open (that saved me once).
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE E-V-E-R!!!! Ordered this almost FOUR weeks ago! Automated AND physical phone calls all confirmed delivery WOULD be 9/12 by *9pm.* After 9pm, a call to the automated system told me the appliance had been *delivered!!* No updated shipping emails after order was placed. No calls from SEARS. Order was still *processing.* The entire *delivery week day* was set aside to WAIT for this freezer. 9pm came and went. NO FREEZER! MORE CALLS and time expended from my life tracking down this item I paid for when I ordered it!! Calls ALL routed to the Philippines-where-by NO surprise-they had *limited access* to *track* my appliance!!! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! When I FINALLY reached a warm body [press 1 to make a new order to bypass the system!], I discovered it wasn't even on a truck yet. I live in upstate Maine. Can you believe that this appliance was being shipped for delivery from NH over FIVE HOURS away??? THIS is one of the reasons Sears is losing customers, is slowly fading away, and can't repopulate business. NO ONE AT THE TOP of this corporation can think outside the box to go from catalog only days, to brick and mortar, to online!!!! I'm not being entitled here...the service from beginning to end was absolutely THE WORST. PUT ME IN CHARGE and I could take this company back to the top!! ...and become a millionaire! All the top echelon care about is their pockets, NOT the customer. CUSTOMERS become CLIENTS when the service is there!!! Delivery company was best part of this experience!! I feel for these guys having to deal with Sears. I feel very embarrassed for this company.
My new freezer--one month old-- is off to an excellent start. It was installed and began running and stays consistently on zero. I appreciate having the temperature prominently displayed on the door so that I can see immediately if the freezer is not working properly. The shelves and doors are very conveniently designed. No complaints so far!
