First off let me say this has been by far my greatest investment! Rita the sears associate at fort Walton beach sears was absolutely amazing she is very knowledgeable and helpful ! I have a family of 6 3 adults 3 children and a dog so needless to say we have a lot of laundry and this machine literally does a weeks worth of laundry in 2 loads! What used to take 2 or 3 days to get done takes just hours! I am also able to wash my entire king beset complete with large comforter sheets pillow cases and mattress pad KING size in one load and it drys fully in 40 minutes or less! I'm in love with this set more than my boyfriend! Lol seriously!!!
I saw a review of this model on cnet, it said it was the best cleaning unit they had tested, even though Maytag has the exact same unit and is poorly rated. I bought it, installed it, so now I can say, that's not true, and it has many other problems, as you can see by many other reviewers. I will list a few of the issues. 1, it does not put enough water in to work properly, even when using the deep fill option. I have washed a load of clothes and some items never got wet! I actually watched a load from start to finish and had a shirt that stayed on top, was never pulled down, this happened many times. Something that I have tried and seems to fix that issue,(with the deep fill option still on) after loading the clothes, poor about 1/2 gallon of water over them. Unit fills properly and seems to wash like it should when doing this. 2, Even with a light load, and using the setting that clothes are very lightly soiled, unit still takes a hour or longer. 3, It often gets off balance, once it does that, it refills with water and tries again, wasting a lot of water and adds a lot more time. My old washer, washed in 30 min, got clothes clean and almost never got out of balance. It had to save a lot more electricity and water than this unit, so not sure how this has a energy star rating! I would recommend this to someone I dislike, not a friend! Also, Sears offered free installation, but only if you bought the stainless braided lines from them, which they greatly over priced. I had just bought a set and put on my old washer, a week later, a power surge took out all the electronics, which would cost more than a new machine to replace, so I could not see wasting money to buy another set, They delivered it but would not install because I did not buy the hoses! What a rip off! It's sad, Sears use to care about customers, once they stopped, they went down hill. Look what happened, there are no sears stores in my area any more!
It pains me to rate this washer so low because I really like it. 11 months in, the softener dispenser clogged. A year after that, I got an F5 code. The lid's hinges are rusted. It costs $90 per hinge to replace them. If the lid is bad, that's over $300. This washer is nice and big. It washes the clothes nicely. It does not use a ton of soap. It tells you when to clean the washer. I love it, but to repair it is almost half the cost of buying it new. It should last more than two years. It comfortably washes an oversized CA King comforter. I bought a GE washer to replace this one. That washer is a joke. Sears you have let me down with this Elite.
The glass lid spontaneously shattered while the machine wasn’t even in use. Google it. It’s a known problem with these, and no recall?!?!?! They need to fix this problem or, at the very least, offer a replacement metal lid. Only option is to buy another glass lid at about $300, and from what I’ve read, it will probably do the same thing.
Don't waste your money on this machine. It'll cost you a bit now but it's going to cost you even more in the future. Within months of use this machine will cause balling all over your clothes and it'll shred your towels.
It will save you on your electric and water bills but it will cost you more in a new wardrobe and linens.
Washer is GREAT. Until the lid exploded while NOT in use & hadn't been for more than 48 hrs. Sears/Kenmore WILL NOT help as I've gotten the run around daily for 3 weeks. They are NOT admitting that this machine, Whirlpool, ans Samsung have all had these issues.
