This washer, and it's accompanying cavernous dryer, are highly efficient, quick, and quiet. The steam does make noise at times during in the cycle, but this is only for short periods of time. Clothes are much cleaner and brighter than any previous top loader and older, smaller front load machines. Have owned for five months.
We bought Kenmore Elite washer, pedestal washer, dryer, and pedestal storage in metallic silver, alongside two hose kits on Black Friday. On December 11th they were delivered, but the pedestal washer was in white, this was not the color we ordered and so they took it back. We then called Sears about the issue and that's where the nightmare began. They would send us back and forth between people, none of which helped us. They refused to deliver our silver pedestal washer nor would they return our money, after some time we noticed that they started adding to our total by doubling the tax. Not only did they not give us our money back for the pedestal washer, they also doubled the tax. They also took hoses that we bought as a kit for the washers which cost about $20 dollars. Apparently the salesperson made a mistake by ordering it in white, and now Sears wants us to pay the current price even though we bought is during a Black Friday sale. Why should we pay for the current price if we bought it on sale seeing as it was the sales person's mistake, shouldn't the sales person fix his mistake? Today is the 27th of December and Sears still hasn't helped us, nor has the salesperson. When purchasing the item, the salesperson told us that Sears has a 30 day return policy and only after we made the purchase he told us that there is a 15% restocking fee which they wanted to charge us even though we never actually got the item we ordered. The customer service has been absolutely horrible and I plan to never shop at Sears again. Adding to all this we had Sears shop points for $100 off of our purchase, but when we tried to redeem them, it refused to work and now the points expired. I contacted Sears about the points, but they again refused to assist. After having the washer for less than a month, it started making banging noises, but I am worried that Sears will be of no help. A note I would like to add is that when we contacted Sears we were told to talk to the store manager, but whenever we try to contact the store manager, nobody picks up. We left messages, but there aren't any responses. We can't go directly to the store as it is nearly 140 miles away. To summarize, we don't have our pedestal washer even though we paid for it, they are trying to charge us a 15% restocking fee even though is was the salesperson's mistake, they doubled our tax on the total, they took our hoses that we paid for, and the now machine is making banging noises and we have nowhere to go to. This is just as good as a scam and it's no wonder why Sears is going bankrupt.
Hard to know where to begin here because the delivery crew was as incompetent as I've ever seen. I also don't make a habit of reviewing products because I never have an issue with the things that I order. First of all, I searched for washers and dryers online for two weeks before I settled on the kenmore elites from sears. Sears had the best price and these washers and dryers looked sharp. When I ordered online the delivery was set for a couple of days later but as soon as I bought the items with a credit card, the delivery was moved to three weeks in advance because one of the items was unavailable at that time. I wish I knew that before I purchased the items. When the Delivery crew finally arrived, they thought that they were just dropping off the items and leaving. I told the man at the door that I ordered the whole package, washer, dryer, pedestals, installation and haul away of the old items. He seemed confused and walked back to the truck. There were three guys in this delivery team. They first came inside to take out the old items. They had a single wench with them and no other tools. I had to loan them my tape measure. They disconnected the washer but couldn't disconnect the dryer as the hose for the natural gas was seized on the back of the dryer. (Don't they often encounter this issue?). So the old dryer was left there and he told me to call a plumber to have them remove the hose. Now they started to bring in the new items. They had a dolly but believe it or not, there was no top strap on the dolly so as the washer and dryer was being rolled up my driveway, one guy had to hold the box from the back as to keep it from falling off the dolly. they unboxed the washer outside and packing material was thrown all over my yard. As the rolled it inside there was no respect for my baseboard heaters or anything else in the pathway of the dolly as they rolled it down the hallway. Then they had to carry the washer and dryer down stairs to the basement and they seemed confused as to how to accomplish this like they've never did this before. they told me that they didn't want to scratch the machines because it was a narrow fit into the basement door and they wanted to just leave the machines in my kitchen. I told them I'll take responsibility for the scratches and just please get them down the stairs. Finally the washer, dryer, and pedestals are down in the basement. Again no respect for my old furnace which happens to be next to where the washer and dryer are to be placed. The machines and the men are bumping into the furnace etc. Once the washed pedestal is laid flat, the men place the washer on top. Now they have no clue how to set this up. The guy tells me he never did this before. How do you send a crew to do an installation which I paid for that is this incompetent? So the washer and the pedestal washer are not setup. As for the dryer, that pedestal is left in the box and the new machine isn't setup. I would continue but I ran out of space.
