Initial thoughts...

After installation the range is operating fine. We have some learning issues with the range and the User Manual. One of the first things we did was to attempt clean the control panel with a damp cloth. DO NOT DO THIS! Every thing in the control panel lit up including an Er message. The range rapidly and randomly beeped and we could not figure out how to silence it. We wound up throwing the circuit breaker and waiting a few minutes. When turned on again the range indicate it was locked with -- over each burner. Holding the "Cook top Lockout" for 3 seconds would beep, but not unlock the controls and the -- remained on. After several minutes it did unlock. We have no idea why it finally worked, there's nothing in the manual about this condition. The manual does mention that if you hold down the 7 key for 6 seconds the range will reset to the factory settings. Also missing is instructions on how to silence the beeping. We figured it out by looking at another Kenmore Elite manual on line. To toggle the beep you hold the "delay start" for 6 seconds, the "Beep On" will display. Then you press "Self Clean" to toggle off/on and "Start" to accept. To clean the panel you MUST lock the controls and or lock the door. When it's locked you can clean it, but the "Warmer Drawer" is still active. This may be a defect or normal, we don't know at this point. The manual does not mention cleaning the panel only the range top or burners. The manual is very unfriendly incomplete and has no index.

Fan Problem is a known issue

I've had this unit range as part of a set we bought in the spring of 2015. The range is beautiful and when it works fine, we really like it. But there is an issue with the exhaust fan that is ongoing on all the KE models like this one. Yes, the fan makes an air blowing noise when it is activated, this is normal and in my opinion it is not bothersome at all. However, the exhaust fan has a bushing that wears out over time and as it does, a gap is created in the bottom of the axis where the rotor goes which causes it to rock up and down. This at the speedy revolutions that the fan turns creates what has been described in other reviews as a helicopter fan. This is a VERY LOUD rattling sound and this is not normal. It requires the fan to be replaced, which SEARS will do under warranty, but after warranty, this will cost you approximately $400. We cook a lot at home so we use the range quite a bit and in my experience, it lasts 3-5 months between replacements. We have had it fail 4 times all together across several stoves sears has sent us. I've gotten to know the repair men that sears utilizes since they have come so often and they all know about this problem and know that sears has not changed the part. BTW, every time something goes wrong with it, you have to take a half day from work to wait for sears to come by to inspect and verify the issue, then wait 1-2 weeks for the parts to come in, and then take another half day to wait for sears to come by and install the parts. Other than that, I've had the following issues with this stove: -Rubber seal on the cook-top has fallen several times, exposing the board electronics and leaving them susceptible to spills. -Convection fan has become loose, this was fixed quickly by a service guy at the same time as he was replacing the exhaust fan. -Received two stoves with bubble under glass cooktop -Received stove with broken door bracket. Sears replaced on the spot. -Glass front panel warped (possibly due to a rubber seal failure). I gave it two stars because of this: Number one, the stove looks really nice and sleek and when it works, it is very versatile. Number two, because even though we have had a terrible experience with it Sears has stood by it, though towards the end not very willingly. I really do not want someone else to go through what we have gone through and loose all the time we have lost dealing with issues. If I could do it all over again, i would choose another stove series. If you must have one of these ranges, purchase or negotiate a free of charge extended warranty because the fan WILL break on you.

Best Range Ever!

|

We bought this range more than seven years ago and its the best single appliance I ever bought. It works as advertised, is also convection oven, has a clean appearance and is the easiest range ever to keep clean. I'm a guy who's a high fire cook and there is always grease on the stove after I'm done. Just let it cool down and clean the flat glass range surface and the smooth glass control surface. No knobs, or nooks and crannies to deal with. AND, we haven't had a lick of trouble with it ever. We're moving and we'll be buying another of these for our new home. Great design, great product!

Kenmore elite range

I was skeptical at first after purchasing this range.  Please range looks amazing and cooks well. My only complaint is a fan that  keep on blowing while cooking .  I am getting used to it .  Overall I am satisfied  with my purchase .

Oven Racks Hard to Move

|

The racks did not easily pull out of a hot oven. Removing the racks I noticed a discoloration where the rack was rubbing against the side of the oven. I periodically apply some cooking oil to the problem spots and the oven racks more easily move in and out of a hot oven.
