Not sure why there are so many negative reviews ...

We got our oven in 2013 at the sears outlet in Los Angeles. I drove 170 miles to get it for $1700 instead of paying $300 for the oven. It worked great for 2 years until we sold the house. I especially loved the convection feature I could make better pizza than I ever could before because a convection oven at 500 is more like 600 without convection. Anyway, as far as we know, our oven is still working well.

Far below Kenmore Standards

I purchased this oven in October 2015. Have had nothing but problems with the oven. After months of replacement parts, parts delays, time off work for servicing, I received a replacement 5 days ago. Baked on day 1, no problems. Baked on day 4 lower oven not heating properly. Temperature is below reading. It looks beautiful, but I would not recommend. I wish other reviews were available at the time I purchased. This oven really needs to come out of the Kenmore line. It is a lemon of a product. This is my first experience with a Kenmore product that has no usefulness. It is really, really bad. Will be requesting a replacement with a different model.

DO NOT BUY !! again DO NOT BUY!

I have had this oven in service since January of 2018. The main control board has been replaced 3 times, the panel once, the clock once. The oven can not maintain cooking temp. The first turkey took 3 hours longer. Cookies still vary from batch to batch. A recent cheese cake took over twice as long. There is a fan in the back wall. It blows hot air even in conventional bake. This burns the food next to the fan and leaves the food opposite under cooked. Lasagna and pizza always comes out with burned streaks even when turning. Cookies burn while others are barely done. I expected more for the price and from Kenmore. I am surprised the model is till on the market, Kenmore knowing the problems the model has.
I expected more from Kenmore. I expect a premium baking machine for the price with precise cooking temps. I got neither. I am so disappointed in Sears. I paid for quality and I received junk. To say I got a lemon would be unfair to the lemon. Once again do not buy. The only reason for one star is I could not give no star!

Actually great ovens!

Like another reviewer, I was shocked to see several negative reviews about this oven! We've had this double oven for over 5 years now with no issues at all. Having used convection cooking for decades, we were glad to find that it works just as well as previous ovens we've owned over the years in other houses, which were models made by another company. We really like the fact that the shelf grids are left in during the cleaning cycle, since they also have the self-cleaning coating, vs. taking out stainless or chromed ones and trying to clean them separately. As with most ovens these days, manufacturers have solved past problems with overheating electronics by incorporating a fan for the control panel, which operates until it drops to a suitable temperature, and some people might not like it, but this seems to be normal these days. The ovens are very well insulated, and hold heat for quite a long time when closed. The interior view with the lights on is excellent, as opposed to too dark in a relative's stove. We bought a 5-year maintenance plan when we got it, never needed it but got a free maintenance check at the end, and the tech reported that the temperatures were still good (just a tad [maybe 15 degrees] on the high side) and no problems with any of it. And it looks very nice in the kitchen!

Buyer Beware!

I wish I was writing with a better review but I have to agree with all the other reviewers on this Kenmore Elite double oven model #48443. I received my first oven on May 19, 2015. We were replacing 20 year old GE double ovens which I desperately miss. The first Kenmore Elite double oven failed upon installation, completely shutting itself off during installation by Sears. I immediately called my salesperson who was very helpful for replacement. My second oven was delivered on June 9, 2015 and installed by Sears. Immediately had heating issues and wide swings in temperature burning baked goods in particular. I called for service and it took three or more separate service appointments before I was able to get knowledgable technicians who would attempt to correct the temperature issues. From the factory (the product is made by Electrolux for Sears) the unit was off more than 50 degrees in one oven and 35 degrees in the other. It took two technicians over 2.5 hours to calibrate the ovens properly (within 10-15 degrees of ideal temp). I still have uneven cooking and forget about making any temperature adjustments while a product is cooking. It turns the top heating element on if you do this burning the top and edges of anything in the oven. This has been the worst epic failure of an appliance in my 36 years of marriage. So disappointing and I have no idea why Sears hasn't made the situation right for it's loyal customers. This appliance is good looking with nice porcelain racks but mechanically a lemon! Under no circumstances should you purchase this product.

Noisy and Faulty Electronics

Great when it works but too unreliable after the break-in period. The first oven unit was delivered to the house for Sears installation ... but after install, the unit did not work. The second unit came in and was installed nicely. The initial 6 months were fine ... oven worked very well. After that, the internal fan began to generate a loud clicking noise. After a few more months, the upper oven would malfunction intermittently. Set the ****** temperature and when the oven reached that temperature, an error code "F045" would display. Much too unrealiable, especially during the holidays when cooking for a small group of people.
