Just got the washer 5 days ago and I am very pleased with the results. I had the same version but just 7 years older with no steam. Mine was a 4.6 and there is a significant difference in size. I wash a lot of quilts and dog bedding and it is nice to fine something large enough that the items can tumble and get clean. My husband just got home from Afghanistan and I used the steam portion to clean his clothes and remove all the stains and orders from 4 months of deployment. I am pleasantly surprised how clean they came out. Just have to get used to and adjust my day is how much longer each load takes to wash verses the old high efficiency. The steam cycle took over 3 hours but it works.
We spent 1800.00 on the washer and dryer a few months ago. We immediately started receiving the IE message over and over leaving us with soaking wet laundry as there is no separate spin cycle only rinse and spin. Sears replaced the intake valve a week ago. IE message again. Soaking laundry, too wet to put in the dryer. We live in snow country so could not hang out to dry in the dead of winter. What a wet mess for days! 5 days later Sears is back, now it needs a computer board. Per the tech and customer service it will be 8 days. Per the tech he said Sears is having nothing but problems with these new machines computers. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!!! I am sending mine back no matter who I have to call at Sears! ! I wish I would have kept my 6 yr old GE manual/dial machine. What an idiot I was thinking this new machine would be an upgrade! Thanks Sears!
Absolutely the worst washer I've ever owned or used. At least 75% of the loads get an unbalanced load error message - and that is not an exaggeration. The size of the load - small, medium, or large - makes no difference. Takes a long time to complete a wash cycle because of the unbalanced load error message. It even gets an unbalanced error code when I run the cycle to clean the washer - and nothing is in the tub except water. Wish I had returned it after I bought it. Technician came out and couldn't find anything wrong - confirmed it was in balance. Then had the gall to charge me a service visit. I said I wasn't going to pay for a service visit when nothing was done and he forced me to. Would never recommend this washer to anyone. Would rate it a zero star if I could.
No matter how little soap we use, suds show up on the floor under the washer. AVOID THIS WASHER!
This was a nice unit while it worked but beware, it's not going to hold up much past 5 or 6 years! The 3 year maintenance agreement probably isn't worthwhile since you'll likely not need it during the first three years although we dutifully paid for it. In our case five years into it's life the water pump failed, the motor blew and the tub seal gave out. We thought we were buying a quality machine.
The washer has a significant number of great features. It is extremely quiet and its capacity is outstanding. I am completely satisfied with this product, and am extremely happy to have purchased it.
I shopped for a while and read many reviews and ended up purchasing this model. The day this washer was delivered, I put it to use on numerous loads(10 & counting). I ran normal loads of jeans and T-shirts, a heavy load of towels and a couple loads of comforters. It operated perfectly.
The only thing I can conclude from some of the negative comments is that people are not familiar with high efficiency units as opposed to an older washer.
There will always be manufacturing defects on any product but I am completely satisfied with this purchase.
