Like many quality homes over 30 years old, the kitchen only allowed for a refrigerator with a width under 33 inches. I have Kenmore Elite products throughout my home, so buying a Kenmore Elite product was my first choice. If you?re looking for a mid to high end look for a small space, this is worth considering when on sale! PROs: Appears to be quality stainless steel, convenient interior layout, nice touch panel controls on the outside. CONs: Not as well lit as my older Kenmore (not enough LEDs), no ?drip edge? on shelving, only the door shelves are adjustable.
We spent over $1,500 for this new refrigerator and opted not to get extended warranty. Delivery guys installed (didn't put the bottom skirt on until we couldn't find it & called them back in before leaving). They also only took outside packaging - all inside packaging was left for us to untape/unpack & discard. Problems: * Water isn't cold (tap water is colder!) * Chicken was going bad & stinking up the fridge before the expiration date * Tiny ice maker bin was forming icebergs due to melting (being in the door vs inside the freezer) * There are NO adjustable shelves * Milk - barely fits the top shelf - seriously, almost scraping the top to fit in a gallon - if you read their manual, it says not to store milk on door bins (even though they design it to look like it should) After about 2 months, we got a thermometer for the fridge & though we had it set to 36, it was running about 40. Called Sears who said to call Kenmore since it was out of the 30 warranty. Kenmore came out, technician said it was the main board & ordered the part. He also said with the ice maker actually being on the door, you should empty your ice bucket every 3-5 days due to melting (when warm room air enters the dispenser while in use) & icing up - WTH?! When the technicians come out, they tell you all the details on "how much you saved" by being under warranty, blah, blah, blah. Um, no, we didn't save any money, we lost time & money by having to be available for a technician to come for a diagnosis visit then repair visit so WE should get a rebate or credit of some sort for our inconvenience. With new Main board that was replaced on 12/23/15 - The temperature readings seem to depend on the shelf. We have a 1/2 - 3/4 filled fridge & though temp is set to 36, it is about 38. Water still not as cold as last/old fridge. Oh, if you aren't happy with your purchase after 30 days, you have to have 3 separate repair visits (does not include any diagnosis visits - only when actually repairing something) in order to get a completely new product. I would NOT recommend this fridge to anyone. So disgusted with this whole experience.
Waited a year to write this after seeing so many bad reviews. This was the only machine that fit my opening so there was no choice.
My experience has been all good. On the lighting that folks complain about i would say it is more than adequate. On the icemaker failures the unit has jammed a couple of times. Switching from cubes to crushed reverses the dispensor rotation and fixes the issue. On the repairs mine has worked fine. The shelves are not adjustable but we have not had any issue and it seems very roomy for the cubic foot size that it is. Extremely quiet. One downside is (and i have multiple homes with other brands and they are all the same) the water from the dispensor is not cold enough.
I purchased this refrigerator 3 years ago and it now has a leak, neither the freezer nor freezer gets cold and I'm told the repair will cost almost as much as the original cost. A refrigerator should last longer than 3 years. Other reviewers raise the same problem, i.e., leak. Why does Sears continue to sell this product if they know it's defective?
It looked great until I removed the plastic cover and saw 2 dents in the door...I contacted them and so far it has been a pain.....
