I purchased this gas dryer from Sears because of the size of the load it can hold as well as the overall size of the machine would fit into the area of our home. The features of this dryer make it economical on the electricity use as well as getting the clothes dry without too much excessive drying time.

Worst Dryer Ever - Warning Fire Hazard

I purchased this 2 months ago. 3 days after the 30 day return policy, it almost burned my house down. It took 8 days for repair to get out to my house, who did not have the parts. They then ordered the parts and sent the wrong ones. The actual motor was out. So here I sit with no dryer for 1 month. Repair guy says this happens all the time and to purchase a different brand. There are two issues. One, the quality of this product. Two, the horrible customer service in just trying to get help with a $1000 dryer. All the other stores have 90-day return policies. Buy a dryer somewhere else. This whole thing has been torture.

Worst dryer I've had


This is my third dryer of this same model. First two were fine. This one is a lemon. To start with it was on backorder but apparently the warranty started the day I bought it and not the day it was delivered some three months later. Within a year it all went downhill. First the heating cores went out. Sears website was down so I finally had to schedule a repair through my home warranty instead of the five year warranty through Sears which cost me $75. Repairman came and replaced the cores. Shortly after the dryer would not heat one day and just shut off. I had a local company come and clean out the vent system as I had bought this set to move into a new house and wasn't sure when that had been done. At that point I kept getting an AF message on the monitor. They completely cleaned out the vent. I still kept getting the AF on the monitor so I again asked for a repairman to come. He came and this time very impatiently told me it was a vent issue not a dryer issue and that my vent was too convoluted to move air. So I spent $1500 to have the vent to the outside made shorter and straighter. I still have the AF signal constantly. The dryer runs for a short while and either doesn't heat or shuts off. On medium heat it gets so hot it melts synthetic fibers. It has ruined rugs, blankets, towels, bath robes, anything that isn't cotton. There is crusted black material on the back grate that the repairman tells me didn't come from the dryer. Really? Where did it come from? The items it has ruined are mostly white or ivory! It has left the grate pattern in furniture covers that I have tried drying on medium heat.

I will never buy another Kenmore product ever. Between the repairman trying to tell me it's not the dryers fault and all of the things it has ruined, I am done. There was a dryer at the house before I bough it that vented and worked fine and the first two dryers of this model also worked fine. I wasted a lot of money and a five year warranty and now less than two years later I am buying a new dryer.

Huge capacity


Love the gas model. Swapped out our old electric and this saves us from having to do laundry after midnight so we dont use electricity during peak hours
