Fresh Air for Fresh Food...
Purchased this refrigerator a year ago. Wanted to be sure it held up a year before leaving a review. I absolutely love this refrigerator! It is so quiet, I can not tell it is running. Makes ice like a champ, water dispenses crystal clear and cold. Crisper drawers keep produce much longer than my old fridge. Food stays fresher longer, and I have never encountered a smelly fridge, with the filtration system. I love the clean lines, and ease of finding things, even when they get shoved to the back of the fridge. The style took some getting used to, with my old fridge being 30 years old, and a top freezer. But after a year and am completely convinced I made the right decision purchasing this fridge. I would recommend this fridge to my closest friends and anyone else looking for a new fridge.
We bought a Kenmore Elite refrigerator June 2016. Less than 2 1/2 years later, it needs a new compressor--we will be paying $424 (the compressor is an additional $241 no charge to us). We checked 2 places and they both said they are replacing a lot of compressors on these fridges. Very disappointed--I think this should be repaired an no charge at all to us.
purchased Sep 2017 in Jan 2020 in only 2 years compressor and control panel broke Sears made us buy home warranty (@ $50 a month for ) and pay $372 or would charge us $750 for the fix
This is a great refrigerator except for one minor inconvenience. After heavy use of the left door, the icemaker ice occasionally sticks together, resulting in a failure to dispense the ice. Other than that, the refrigerator has been working flawlessly for 6 months. We especially like the warning dings when any of the doors are not fully closed.
For all those who are writing positive reviews for this piece of junk, just wait 4 years. The compressor is made by LG - notoriously bad, lasting an average of 4 years. Just enough time to be out of the 3 year warranty included with your purchase. When your fridge does go down, because they are so busy servicing their junk, be prepared to wait up to a month for a technician to visit and order the delivery of a replacement compressor. I will NEVER purchase another Kenmore product and have warned all friends and family to stay away.
Owned this model for 4 years and the compressor went out! Sears Service tech said made in Mexico!
Purchased in September 2016, along with the 3-yr master protection plan. I had been perfectly happy with my unit until this past summer (4 months shy of warranty expiring). In July, we woke up to a warm fridge and thawed meats/foods in freezer. Scheduled a service call, repairman came out, and ordered several replacement parts and returned a week or so later to install them. Filed food loss claim of $200 which they paid. Worked for a week or so, and then having same issue with ice maker which was part of original complaint, and fridge still. It being as cold as it should. Scheduled another service call, and repairman came out and fixed the ice maker and “tweaked” the previous repairs. Seemed to be working fine, until this past weekend when we woke up once again to thawed and spoiled food. Scheduled another service call and now are awaiting parts and return of repairman in a week. Once again filed $200 food loss complaint (the limit set by Sears) though it’s been well over that. This really should count as the 4th problem with fridge and fall under the lemon replacement clause in contract.
All this and I haven’t even mentioned the horrible looking finish in the doors of my fridge and dishwasher. I mentioned it a couple years ago to the technician that came out to do yearly maintenance and was basically told there wasn’t anything that could be done. While reading my plan paperwork, I discover cosmetic defects are covered for repair, but of course only for 3 years past purchase date, which only passed a month ago.
I am very disappointed in this sears purchase. And will never purchase another kenmore appliance. We have been loyal kenmore appliance owners for 40 years.
