Replaced out 15 year old Maytag side-by-side with this Kenmore Elite unit about 2 months ago and we couldn't be happier! PROS: Simple display for water and ice on door, while all other controls are hid on door lip. Too many units put everything on the door and it is quite unsightly. This unit has a nice clean look Shield on ice dispenser, no more ice flying everywhere but in your glass Smaller ice maker, you actually get a storage shelf on the ice maker door, not lost space Hide-away 1/2 shelves great for making quick short term adjustments to your shelving ,without rearranging everything Really don't have a single complaint~
Ice maker stopped after 1 year now the bottom freezer has stopped working at 18 months. We just dumped $200 worth of food in dumpster. On top of all that, we are still making payments. 2 year plan. The least Kenmore could do is make it last longer than the payments. Run away as fast as you can. Sears service with be out to help us in 2 weeks.
We purchased this fridge in 2013 with the 3 year warranty. We paid 2 grand for this fridge. The first couple years were great. Then the compressor went out, not only did we lose over $300 but our 2 year old fridge was broken. Fortunately we had the extended warranty (not something we ever buy), and it was fixed 3 weeks later (we had to "rent" another fridge until ours could be repaired). We were hoping that it was just a fluke and not an omen of times to come. However, yesterday after church we came home to a broken fridge. The compressor is out again and we are not only out the cost to repair or replace the fridge but we now have to replace $300 dollars worth of groceries (again). We have decided to purchase a new fridge, because guess what...the fridge in now out of warranty and since the Kenmore Elite has proven itself to be untrustworthy we do not want to pay money to repair it. My husband and I tend to be brand loyal, this will be the last time we purchase anything with the Kenmore name. The bottom line is that a fridge that costs over 2 grand should last more than 5 years.
Fridge stopped cooling. It is 2 1/2 years old. Lost all my food... took service 5 days to show up because they had no openings. They are replacing the compressor. Thank goodness I purchased extended warranty. This the second kenmore appliance to quit working since I remodeled my kitchen. Never again!!!
Do not buy this refrigerator. They are no good! I bought one July of 2017. It has stopped getting cold as of February 2019. I love that it's so big in space but the motor in these are not guaranteed. After being fixed(with the warranty purchased) the SAME motor that is going to mess up AGAIN was reinstalled. They are not looking to find one that is different. They are just ordering what will soon break again. So disappointed. If I can give it no stars I would.
Looks like I am not the only one. Bought July 2016. Compressor is out and we called February 8th. February 13th technician came out paid $99 to let us know our compressor was out. They couldn’t find our warranty and it took myself and the technician to track it down. She made an appointment for March 1st when the parts came in. All the parts came in and I called on Feb 26th and was told I have a sooner appointment of Feb 27th. Got text with that date and then a minute later with March 8th. Called and spoke to a supervisor. Said managers do not take calls. He could not help me. Called all day and emailed on Wednesday. Finally got a return call yesterday. Had the date changed to March 5th. Guess what got another text it is back to the 8th. BBB has been contacted now and complaint made.
