Wanted an upgrade to our 12 year old fridge. Something better and BIGGER - and this has plenty of room! Love the door-in-door feature. Ketchup bottle is at hand for the kids! Hubby loves the LED lights inside. I love the large freezer drawer with two pull-out trays and a smaller tilt out shelf for smaller things on the door itself. Great buy!
Seriously do NOT buy this refrigerator unless you plan to be available at least once a month for repairs. We purchased this item initially at the local Sears outlet store. We had issues right from the start with the ice maker. Luckily we purchased the master protection plan aka extended warranty. After 3 attempts at repair Sears replaced it with a brand new unit of the same model. Now we have an error code and the control panel isn't working for ice/water. We searched online and attempted a reset that worked for about 12 hours. We scheduled repair and the technician "cleared a fan" and reset it. It worked for a few hours. I cannot even schedule another repair time because the tech hasn't closed the encounter yet. We will once again need to take time off of work for an attempted repair on this piece of junk! Buyer beware that this product is a lemon in my opinion.
We paid almost $3,000 for this refrigerator July 2017, and already have issues. Had read mostly good reviews, and initially we liked it. When it stopped getting cold two weeks ago, on January 1, we looked into possible issues, only to find this fridge is actually an LG, which is notorious for poor compressors. A technician came to 'diagnose' it with bad compressor, and it took until January 11 for the repair to take place. They replaced compressor, but but by that evening we could already tell the freezer wasn't getting cold, only the refrigerator was. Today was our third service visit. Technician said a valve wasn't going to freezer, which was the previous technician's error, but when he fixed it, the freezer still wouldn't get cold. He has to order a part, and schedule ANOTHER service call. Meanwhile, we have been without refrigerator for two weeks, and don't even know if the next appointment scheduled for 9 days from now will help. We had to purchase a service plan that costs $50/month, and paid $100 on the initial visit. It's very hard to keep taking time off work to wait for technicians who cannot fix the problem, and frustrating that all of this is happening with an appliance that is less than 2 years old, an cost a fortune! We have always purchased Kenmore from Sears, but won't anymore. The right thing to do would be for Sears to replace our appliance, and NOT with one that has an LG compressor.
I had this refrigerator for less than 2 years before the compressor went out. So far it has been out of service for over 4 months and Sears Home Repair Services does not seem to care about it. I have had 1 cancellation and 2 no show appointments for repair. This item is NOT KENMORE standards, which I was raised using. Do NOT buy this product or any other SEARS appliance.
This is the worst purchase I have ever made! This refrigerator has horrible reviews and now $2600, plus $200 in first repair, I know why. This refrigerator is poor quality and purposely made this way in order for customers to purchase service plan or repurchase the refrigerator in repairs. After only having this refrigerator for 2 years in my new house with mild to moderate use for it broke down. We found an honest repairman that replaced the freezer fan for $200 only to have the compressor go bad in a couple of weeks. That would've cost us at least $600 plus any additional repairs in order to identify what caused the compressor to malfunction. Even the repairman said that it was not worth the investment and that he had already made several other service calls for the same model refrigerator. Do not even consider buying this refrigerator and if you do or did you might as well purchase the service plan because you will need it. I wish I could submit review with negative stars but that's not an option!!!
We love it. Lots of room. No complaints as of yet.
Purchased new. Complete failure and spoilage of all contents after three years.
Nothing but problems from day one. Unpredictable temps in the refrigerator, ice buildup in the lower part of the meat section prevents the drawer from fully closing. Water buildup from the ice melting and seeping out the front.
Weird white powder coming out of the ice maker/water spout. Charged $89 to get the failure diagnosed. $379 to refill the unit with freon, meaning that all of the freon had leaked out into our house, into the lungs of my family, including two toddlers.
The only time they offered to schedule a repair was 7:00 AM, several weeks from the failure. Technicians never showed up, didn't call, didn't try to reschedule. We waited for a few hours for them to show up. When I called, they said they were still waitin gon parts.
Catastrophic failure, UNBELIEVABLY TERRIBLE service throughout. Never buy Kenmore.
