As close to perfect as I found…

I shopped 5-months to buy a new refrigerator after spending $800 to fix my GE one to no avail. After conducting much research, on line and otherwise, I bought Kenmore Elite’s 23.5 cu. ft. Counter-Depth Grab-N-Go and have never looked backed. While 23.5 cu. ft., it has more usable room inside than any other refrigerator I considered of it’s same size. It’s appearance, quality and workmanship is second to none in my view. Ergonomics are also second to none. Although not a show stopper for me every considered, my only recommendation for improvement is to make the freezer door easier to open and shut. The door doesn’t open smoothly and I have to pull it relatively hard for it to open. Easy for me so not a show stopper, but this possibly may be an issue for others. With this and all other Kenmore Elite products I’m bought, I highly recommend buyers read the directions before using. It’s a must and will eliminate many potential problems. A no-brainer, but I believe the problems many people report on this site are the result of just that…not scrupulously reading and carefully following directions before first using products and after.

Breaks after two months can't fix it. 3 repairmen have tried now broken

Loved this fridge. When at Two months it started making loud buzzing whine noise intermittently. Took 10 days for service to come, he just looked at the fridge and told me to prove it. He said I should make the noise since it wasn't at the time, he left and did nothing to the fridge. 2nd guy came used monitor said this happens a lot ordered parts. 7 days later 3rd came and put on the parts. At this point it quit working. 4trh guy comes said he need parts and orders them. Here I am well over a month and my fridge doesn't work at all. Sears service operators are very rude. # of the repairmen were also very rude. And no one has fixed it yet. All that money for a fridge and there it sits, a very expensive box that does nothing. The store manager is trying to help but he doesn't really have any power over repair. I bought the 5 year warranty too which is obviously not worth the paper it is printed on.

Terrible

Quit cooling well. Sears came out to work on it, and for two months now we have been without a functional refrigerator when a portion of it was supposedly still under warranty. Terrible for a less than 3 year old refrigerator to quit working and for Sears to not get it fixed despite multiple visits over a 2 year period of time. Never anything from Sears again. It worked well up until a few months ago, but I expect more from a "high" quality refrigerator.

DO NOT BUY THIS!! DO NOT BUY FROM SEARS AT ALL!!!

Don’t buy this!! It will break in no time and you can't fix it. Also, there is no customer satisfaction with Sears or Kenmore. I bought this new Kenmore Elite (actually it’s an LG) refrigerator two years ago and it just stopped working. I called to get a repairman out to look at it and they told me it would take a week to get someone out -just to look at it and tell me what was wrong. They also told me that I wasn’t under warranty, but the owner’s manual told me otherwise. I had my own repairman – from a very reputable company come out to look at it. This guy has been my appliance repairman for years and he can fix anything! He told me that Kenmore was having problems with this particular refrigerator and I went online and found that this was, in fact, the case. The problem was not repairable. There is a freon leak inside the cabinet. This means that it is going into the back part where the foam is, I believe. He said that even if a repairman came out and told me it was fixable and attempted to fix it that it would lose all the freon again within the year and I would be back in the same position.
I tried to get someone on the line who could give me some kind of satisfaction but I kept getting looped back to the Sears repair scheduling center. There I spoke with a Sarah, a supervisor. I asked her if I paid the money and waited the week to have a serviceman come out and he verified what my guy said, what would be my recourse? She smugly said, “I guess you’ll be buying a new refrigerator”. THAT IS SATISFACTION??? The refrigerator cost me $2400 and lasted exactly two years!!! That is ridiculous – especially since they know that this is a problem with this particular model. You would think that they would offer me something.
I will never ever buy another Kenmore product and I would suggest that no one does. They are obviously not willing to stand behind their products.

Great Fridge, Great Service

Very happy with this fridge. Very spacious inside and love the easy-access door for getting out the milk for the kids. Freeze is nice to have a the bottom since it's accessed seldom. Sears service did excellent job delivering and installing the fridge. They were very careful with the appliance and explained functions and use etc. to me in a kind manner. Very happy with purchase, albeit expensive.

Time Will Tell (Updated)

Our 14 yr old Whirlpool side-by-side died all of a sudden & getting a new refrigerator in a hurry was required. We rec'd it 3 days after ordering. Set up took 10 minutes. Installers were professional & efficient. Pros: *This refrigerator is very quiet. *The door-in-door tho gimmicky is something we use a lot. Don't have kids & wondered if we would use this feature. Load it up w/drinks & condiments. You'll be surprised at how much it is used. Very convenient. *Haven't loaded it up yet, seems to have more room than our larger side-by-side. Especially like that I don't have to move things to smaller containers to put in refrigerator. *Counter depth fits nicely in required space. It sticks out less than our side-by-side from the cabinet (maybe 2"). There's no problem opening the doors or any of the bins. *Stainless steel was not an item we wanted but it seems that most come "standard" as SS. So far, no fingerprint problems. One nice thing? Can't put magnets on it! Other refrigerator was covered, surprised at how cleaner the refrigerator/cabinet area looks without all the magnets. Cons: *Wanted dual ice machines, but there are no counter depth refrigerators that currently provide this. Will see how it goes come summer when the demand for ice is more. (Reason for 4 instead of 5 stars) *Adjustable shelves for tall items are not really flat when open. A bar underneath limits the height of things that can go under these shelves. Adjustable shelf space (the "tall" space) when open is narrow. Probably need to rearrange the shelves to better suit our needs. *Freezer door, as others have mentioned, is hard to open. Especially if you try to open it soon after it has already been opened (vacuum). All in all, I really like this refrigerator. We have only had it a few days so am hoping that others' negative comments about durability will prove untrue but only time will tell. (Updated 12/27/16). Found out over the holidays that until I efficiently learn to put containers in frig, space seems to be smaller than my side by side. Tall items even w/space making shelf are a problem. You lose 1/2 the shelf that slides back. Tall items sit on the front of shelf below. If they are wide, they sit precariously on the front edge. Siide note, was supposed to get free delivery but didn't. Contacted chat who told me to call delivery who was to get back w/me 3 days after my call. They had to "investigate my invoice" tho they read it to me while I was talking to them. Still waiting & it has been weeks! (Family in for the holidays & haven't been able to call back.). Disappointed that this could not be done over chat, that I had to call 1-800 delivery number & that an "investigation" has to be done even tho the person said delivery should have been free.). I was also told haul away was a separate charge & I would have to pay even tho local big box stores offered free delivery/haul away for appliances over $500. Make sure to check your receipt before leaving the store.

Great Fridge - Exactly what I was looking for

After searching for a couple of years for a good counter-depth fridge of the right width, I found this one on sale, and compared to other counter-depths, the price could not be beat! I love this fridge - it's been almost a year and it still works great and looks great. I love the door in door and surprised at how much I can store in the fridge and freezer. The ONLY down-side is that the freezer does not open easily and it will roll the fridge if you don't hold it while opening the freezer! I've gotten used to it, so it's no big deal for me, but it might be for someone without much strength. Otherwise, it's perfect for me.
