I researched refrigerators for a month and finally settled for this one. Why ? I was looking for a slim indoor water / Ice dispenser and storage shelf with silver front edges. Silver shelves look classy, They give your fridge a more elite look. They are only available in expensive top of the line fridges that cost $3000-4000. I did not like Samsung, because of the over size ice maker and a weird bulge/ hole when you open the left door. I could not afford top of line LG with Slim door ice maker. BTW this fridge is also made by LG ( has same water/ice dispenser) for Kenmore with the best technology plus some nice design feature. Things I liked are the slim door water ice dispenser, water dispenser area is coated with smooth acrylic finish, easy to clean, I didn't see that on any other fridge. Water dispenser is a clean console with only three button. That's all you need. I like that fact the temperature display and buttons are on the top of fridge, so the kids cannot mess with it. The shelves are very high quality plastic material and are on smooth rollers. Doors have lots of storage for milk gallons. Its finger print resistant, we bought the black stainless steel so it was a must. I like the how the freezer door tilts forward for extra access. Again something I didn't saw in any other fridge. I'm glad that I got it on a good price deal. Its a top of the line LG fridge for half the price.
The refrigerator stopped cooling after 2 1/2 years and the Sears Technician said (without performing any diagnostics) that we need a new compressor since all of these LG-built refrigerators have bad compressors and they are all failing. REALLY?
Horrible product with horrible warranty service. Ice maker and compressor are both broken to after 2.5 years. We purchased the extended warranty with sears and it has been a nightmare getting the refrigerator fixed. Many waster hours on the phone and chasing sears for an update on a fix and I still have no answer on when I can expect my fridge to work again. Been getting the run around and passed to different departments. It's been down for 2 weeks with no repair in site. I expected more from Sears and have been very disappointed to say the least.
Like other 1 star reviewers, this refrigerator has been a big disappointment! No more Kenmore or LG appliances for me. Refrigerator had seal leak after 3 years and customer support was terrible! I was facing 7 weeks without a refrigerator and $600-$800 for labor to repair. Decided to cut my losses.
This +29 CuFt (really an LG Brand) is highly Flawed and we just replace it after only 4.5 years of use. We had continual issues which started about 8 months into service. In a nutshell, we replaced sensors, the ice maker fan (due to building up ice and shorting out the fan & main board we deduce), the main electronic board was replaced 3 times, had a full compressor replacement (this process took multiple service calls which also included having the incorrect compressor delivered which totaled 4+ weeks without a working refrigerator), and now we have a blocked suction tube with the recommendation of a "kit", aka band aid, to run a new suction line through a drain hole at a cost of ~$450 labor.
We're now buying a new (non-LG and non-Sears) refrigerator and done with the drama of empting out all the contents of the refrigerator or freezer and pulling off the internal panels to thaw the iced up evaporators. Although I'm on a first name basis with the service techs that I've come to like over the past 4 years our relationship is coming to an end.
As for Sears’s service (the only service company in my area that will touch a Kenmore) we have been less than happy. The waiting time is usually 2+ weeks even if you have a non-working appliance. And I’ve learned to never take any appointment that isn’t the first appointment of the day. I’ve had the afternoon appointment and they didn’t show up or call. When I called in to find out where they were, the appointment arrival time had been bumped to later in the evening. After a no show still, I called again and found out that the appointment had been changed to a couple weeks later. I guess you can provide that type of performance when you’re the only game in town to service Kenmore.
BEWARE!! Our Kenmore Elite fridge is new but no longer works due to a failed compressor which is a widespread issue in the Kenmore Elite line. Because this issue is so widespread, Sears repair is backed up by several weeks, they can’t keep up with the need for repairs in these (this is verbatim what they repairman told me). These are manufactured by LG and cannot ship the parts in less than 3 weeks. We will have been out of a refrigerator for over one entire month because the part is back ordered (which is $900) and they can't schedule us for another 10 days to repair for another $500. And our fridge is new!! DO NOT BUY APPLIANCES FROM SEARS!! In the event that they break down they can't actually fix them within days, expect to wait weeks. And if you call for an appt expect for long wait times, automated recordings and plain incompetence. I learned my lesson the hard way, please learn from my mistake.
Yes, it is made by LG. But we believed it looked better than the LG and had many more good features:

Doors perfectly aligned with no issues
Cools and freezes perfectly
Lots of interior lighting
Easy to read water/ice/crushed dispenser. No complex screen
Easy to read control panel
Large capacity freezer
More than adequate shelving in freezer
Ice maker is quite
Water/ice/crushed icons are lit too brightly with no means to dim
Center fixed shelf is flimsy
Comes with 2 adjustable ‘drop’ shelves - which are worthless
Water filter replacement is a bit pricy. However, after market replacements available at a more reasonable price under the LG brand.
