We went from a 20 year old 18 cubic foot refrigerator to this 22 cubic foot one. We were taking advantage of an Energy Star rebate. We also wanted one with a bottom freezer. First of all, having most of what we want to use is now at face level, given that we use the refrigerator more than the freezer. Secondly, by having a freezer drawer that pulls out, it's simpler to access the food there. We've now had this for a couple of months. This refrigerator is MUCH quieter than our last one. It is MUCH more consistent in its temperatures across the various areas of the refrigerator. The fruit and vegetable bins (which can each be adjusted for what you put in them) keeps the produce fresh considerably longer than our last one. We got the "stainless" model. It looks great, but keep in mind, there's a coating on the front and the front may not actually be stainless steel as magnets won't stick to it. On the other hand, they do stick to the sides. The very bright LED lighting really allows you to see what is in the refrigerator and freezer. Most of the added space, compared to our last fridge, is in the freezer. For us, that added space was much needed. And again, unlike the reach-in freezer (which was essentially just a box), this one with the drawer (we don't use the ice-maker capability) makes it easier to see what is in there. If there is a flaw here, it's that it would be better if there were more shelf level options in the fridge part. There is one solid shelf, and then 4 non-drip shelves. If you put all 4 shelves in, there isn't really much room for any tall items. The solution is just to take out one of the shelves. But more and finer options for shelf levels would allow for better customization. I can't see anyone being able to use this with all of the shelves in place. Not the biggest deal. BTW, we purchased the 5-year Sears warranty just in case. Reading about potential reliability problems (Not just of this refrigerator, but of ALL modern refrigerators due to the much greater stress on the compressor as a result of efficiency standards. All brands ( including Jenn-Aire, Kitchen Aid, and Bosch, which are all made by Whirlpool) have potential issues with compressor reliability. Better refrigerators get you more efficient and effective cooling design, not better reliability. But at least, with the warranty, we know we're covered as best is possible. And know that modern refrigerators are expected to last about 10 years. Not the fault of LG (which makes Kenmore Elite models) or Whirlpool (which makes most of the standard Kenmore models). It's just that modern design puts much greater stress on the compressor. Anyway, this is, overall, a superb refrigerator for those who have a little less space. It's a little taller and a little deeper than a typical refrigerator with similar side-to-side dimensions. That's how they get in the extra volume. Highly recommended.
I've had this fridge for 1 yr and 2 months. I've called 3 times complaining about a very loud vibration. Not helpful at all since techs didn't do anything for the noise (long explanation I won't get into).? I've had 10 year old fridges that make less noise. It gets louder when you use it (basic opening door to get normal items). I've tried reorganizing. Cleaning. Adjusting feet. To no avail. It's so loud I can hear the noise/vibration from other rooms. Design flaw. The meat drawer. Thawed out meat, and it leaked. Cleaning the drawer was awful. The curves and connections of the different plastics make it very difficult to clean/sanitize. I had to use the hand sprayer on the sink which just shot the blood out of the crack and onto my counter.
I still havent gotten it when I ordered a month ago. Seriously considering cancelling and buying elsewhere
It is very roomy and so far Im very pleased with my purchase.
A good bottom freezer with ice maker. Glass shelves and good lighting. Energy star rating and delivery was with in a hour of promised time.
