I just received my new Kenmore Elite 22 cu. ft. in beige about 10 days ago. I had a decent fridge that was still working though smaller (17.7 cu. ft.) with a top freezer so I was hesitant to even bother getting something new. But with the size upgrade of this plus the better efficiency of newer fridges (my old one was 21 years old) I decided to go for it. They didn't have a sample of this size in beige in the store so I was going on faith basically that it I would like it. First of all, the beige is gorgeous. I wanted beige since my other appliances are beige and my old fridge was beige. So glad I found this one. I was worried the glossy curved front would be off-putting. Nope, it is beautiful to look at. The sides have the orange peel textured look and they look great too. But the color is simply perfect for my tastes. My next concern was for a quiet running fridge. I always thought the old one was rather quiet and had a steady humming sound which was OK. Well, the Kenmore Elite takes the quiet to a whole new level. So pleased. I can hardly hear it running even when I am in the kitchen 10 feet away. During some cycles it is so quiet I have to put my ear against it just to hear anything. Now that's quiet!!! I can't ask for more and I am so glad this didn't become one of those buyers remorse issues for me. I believe that LG makes this model of Kenmore. Temperatures - I have it set to 0 for the freezer and 37 for the fridge. It holds the temps very well, better than my old one did. It is defrosting well too. I love having the fridge section up high without having to bend over for everything like I did with the old top freezer type. The LED lighting is fantastic. The fridge is roomy enough for me a big upgrade in size, love the door bins it is easy to store big bottles and big juice bottles there plus smaller sodas, juices, condiments etc. The butter holder is room enough for a large butter dish but it is up high, maybe a little higher than I would have like which means I have to be careful lifting out the ceramic butter dish up there. I love the big drawer bins and the large platter bin at the bottom. They are roomy and that bottom drawer is so deep goes far into the back of the fridge. The freezer takes a little getting used too but I am learning. It seems roomy enough. The drawers glide smoothly. The seal is tight fitting so much that sometimes it takes a little effort to open the bottom drawer. I love the bright LED lighting a big upgrade from the old one which didn't have a freezer light. I am not using the ice maker so I took out the big ice bin and put my own smaller bin plus ice trays in that spot it is working good for that. The Sears delivery was great. The one guy even cleaned my floor before installation of the new one. They were on time and polite.
The motor in this refrigerator runs at such a high pitch and so loud that I wear ear plugs or turn off the machine at the breaker box (cannot turn off at the machine) while working in the kitchen. Purchased extended warranty. Kenmore advised us that there was nothing that could be done to alleviate the noise/sound. We were told if the refrigerator cooled the food, then the refrigerator worked. Would never buy again. Cannot recommend Kenmore warranty.
We absolutely love this refrigerator freezer. We needed the bisque so we had to wait 3 weeks for delivery, but it was worth the wait. We did go to the store and view the stainless steel model that was a little bigger on the showroom floor just to get an idea, and the store model didn't do it justice. The color is beautiful but more important the functionality of this item is over the top. We actually have room for everything. We love having the refrigerator on top, no constant bending. The LED lights are fabulous, and you not only have the LED light in the refrigerator but you also have it in the freezer. There's a compartment and shelf for everything. We decided not to hook up the ice maker because we're not ice people and the ice bucket is so large we put microwaveable food like little pizzas, burgers etc in there. We were going to nickname it Hulk but it didn't fit so we nicknamed it gargantuan. The refrigerator freezer runs so quietly, the temperatures are preset and stay consistent, and there's a cool alarm feature you can turn on or off, the alarm sounds when the refrigerator door is open for a certain amount of time, the alarm isn't loud though. I really can't say enough good things about this refrigerator freezer. I'm sure the fact that we were dealing with a 20 year old Kenmore has made us appreciate this refrigerator freezer more, but it really is perfect. We were lucky that most of the dimensions were perfect and the only thing we had to do was remove the top shelf because the height was about 4 inches higher than our previous refrigerator. I guess the 1 drawback for some people would be the height if you put bread on top of the refrigerator freezer, I'm able to grab it by stretching a little bit, someone shorter though might need a step stool.
Just got my new Kenmore Elite, bisque refrigerator, bottom freezer today. It is so quiet, can barely hear it. So far I love it. Had a Frigidaire for the past 2 years, it was noisy and my frozen food had a lot of freezer burn no matter how I wrapped it. Never again another Frigidaire anything. My daughter and I have always had good luck with Kenmore Elite appliances. Bisque is a very hard color to find, especially a 22 cuft and 30” wide. So far I am very happy.
I was Very Pleased with the delivery, the installation and the product. Product was as advertised and I'm happy with my purchase.
Never buy a fridge if you can't see the model in person. I bought this model because it was the only beige colored model available anywhere and I wanted them to look integrated with my beige kitchen cabinets. I bought two of them and had one door reversed so they function as a very large "French door" set of fridges. The biggest problem is that the freezer drawers don't fully extend so the back six inches of each freezer drawer are obstructed by the shelf above it. If you need to get something in back, you have to snake your arm under the drawer above it. Very inconvenient and it makes it really difficult to retrieve items in back. The ice cube basket is much bigger than anyone needs. It's twice as big as the one in my old GE Profile fridge. If it were thirty percent narrower it would gave you more freezer space in the drawer and still more ice than any family of four can use in a day. The slim condiment shelf at the bottom of the refrigerator door is not wide enough to hold anything wider than a spice bottle so it's wasted shelf space. Not one of my small containers of mustard, ketchup or pickles would fit. The doors don't open as wide as most fridges. If you need to remove a shelf you have to remove the shelf on the door . Otherwise the shelf hits the door shelf as you slide it out. Even with the door shelf removed the shelf you slide out hits the rubber gasket around the door opening. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this model unless you're desperate for a beige colored bottom freezer refrigerator.
I've had this refrigerator for 1 week. L O O O O V V V E it! About every 12 hours, it make a horrifically loud noise that sounds like a motor is running or some kind of mechanical part is moving inside the frig. Boy is it LOUD! It would scare a baby to death. I'm not talking here about the quiet hum that you hear from the motor inside this unit - that's normal - not a problem. This sound makes me jump out of my skin!!! What to do? I googled a description of the problem mentioning Kenmore refrigerator. Believe it or not, a lot of information popped up. I opened one web page and discovered what I believe to be the problem. I DO NOT use the ice maker. It is NOT hooked up to make ice! This web site said to pull the bottom freezer drawer open. Then, take out the large bin that holds the ice cubes. Bend way over and look in at the front of the ice maker inside the freezer. You will see a switch on the front that is turned ON! It said to turn this SWITCH TO OFF if you are not using the ice maker. So, I switched it off. Problem solved - I think! If the problem is NOT fixed and the loud sound keeps occurring, I will edit my review. It sounded like the sound was coming from the lower part of the refrigertor where the freezer is. So, will wait and see.
Bisque is a beautiful color, the bottom freezer is so much easier to use than a top freezer. The top section is well lit and makes it easier to find food - makes sense since you use the top section more than the freezer. This replaces a 23 yr. old Kenmore that was TOO small! We suffered with that frig forever. We willl really like the bigger size. Be sure to measure doorway to see if you can get this thing into your house. We had to take the doors off of the frig and take off part of the kitchen door just to get this into the kitchen. I wish they would consider making the frig in two sizes - either minimal depth or minimal width. That way you could buy the size to fit the space in your kitchen and still be able to get the thing inside the house! This house was built in 1950. Go figure! Hope you enjoy your frig - I think I will really enjoy mine.
