This is is my first bottom freezer frig. Surprisingly, I really like it. Divider allows me to put veggies on one side and meat & fish on other. Top drawer is great for small items. Refrigerator area is very roomy.
The sales people are full of bologna. They told us that the refrigerator does not come with a warranty and that we would have to buy a $500 plan if we wanted coverage. I called back to speak to a manager who was rude and dismissive but again confirmed their earlier statement that the refrigerator doesn't come with a warranty. Now let me be clear on what I asked them. I asked point blank does the refrigerator come with a warranty, the response then changed a bit and that it came with a limited warranty that covered manufacturer defects. When I again specifically if the compressor and internals were covered the response was NO. Well since I have never seen a refrigerator not come with a warranty I looked this ones up and in fact it is covered by a 1 year limited which covers workmanship which is the whole unit and a 5 year warranty on the sealed system which is the compressor, evaporator, coils etc, and if a linear compressor the warranty is 10 years. So they sold us a $500 plan that we really didnt need, at least not in the way they presented it to us. It is my opinion that this is an intentionally deceptive and unethical practice because of this incident I will be canceling the order, reporting this incident to the BBB and submitting a complaint to the state consumer affairs bureau. I have found a larger unit at one of the home improvement stores which is larger, has better reviews and whose extended warranty is not only cheaper by 50% it starts after the mfg warranty ends, in addition it is backed by their trusted name and customer satisfaction is guaranteed. It is not hard to understand why Sears appears to be on the verge of collapse and I for one will be glad to see them go. First delivery crew got frig in and out, no problem. But immediately realized we had to reorder another one due to a scratch and dent. New delivery crew delivered 6 hrs late (arrived 8:15 pm). Said they were late due to their deliveries would not fit. That was our 1st red flag. That explained why they couldn't get our frig in and out. They were here til 10:15
(2 hrs), trying to drag the frig across hardwood floors without a dolly, and take the doors off the frig. The first crew had no problem, but these guys did.and then they left with the top shelf of freezer so we had to reorder a shelf and ice container. The crew connected the hose for the ice maker wrong. We figured this out 24 hrs later and now have major water damage to our hardwood floors. The water leaked down to our crawl space as well. 3 wks later I chatted with Sears to find out where our shelf was, but they had no way of telling me where it was. So, ordered again. Tried to make ice and had more water problems. There's something wrong with the frig. Trying to get responses from Sears is extremely difficult. Did the online chat and pretty much went round in circles. They would say someone would call you right away or get in touch, but that does not happen. We are still in the process of getting a resolution.
Do not order from Sears if you live in a rural area. They are completely inept in their delivery, communication and customer service!!! I was supposed to get this fridge delivered 3 different days and it still never arrived. They kept telling me that the delivery was handled by a different company. Since no one from Sears or XPO never called me back, I tracked down the actual warehouse and spoke to the person there. Apparently it went out and never arrived and they don't know when or where it is. I ordered this on Dec 26 and today is Jan 14 and the web site still says that it will be delivered on Jan 2. DO NOT BOTHER WITH SEARS. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Complete run-around and no resolution. Although by the end they were happy to cancel the order with no apology. I realize this complaint doesn't belong here - but with no other way to contact someone - this is it. I sure hope they take the charge off of my card!
