This is is my first bottom freezer frig. Surprisingly, I really like it. Divider allows me to put veggies on one side and meat & fish on other. Top drawer is great for small items. Refrigerator area is very roomy.

The sales people are full of bologna. They told us that the refrigerator does not come with a warranty and that we would have to buy a $500 plan if we wanted coverage. I called back to speak to a manager who was rude and dismissive but again confirmed their earlier statement that the refrigerator doesn't come with a warranty. Now let me be clear on what I asked them. I asked point blank does the refrigerator come with a warranty, the response then changed a bit and that it came with a limited warranty that covered manufacturer defects. When I again specifically if the compressor and internals were covered the response was NO. Well since I have never seen a refrigerator not come with a warranty I looked this ones up and in fact it is covered by a 1 year limited which covers workmanship which is the whole unit and a 5 year warranty on the sealed system which is the compressor, evaporator, coils etc, and if a linear compressor the warranty is 10 years. So they sold us a $500 plan that we really didnt need, at least not in the way they presented it to us. It is my opinion that this is an intentionally deceptive and unethical practice because of this incident I will be canceling the order, reporting this incident to the BBB and submitting a complaint to the state consumer affairs bureau. I have found a larger unit at one of the home improvement stores which is larger, has better reviews and whose extended warranty is not only cheaper by 50% it starts after the mfg warranty ends, in addition it is backed by their trusted name and customer satisfaction is guaranteed. It is not hard to understand why Sears appears to be on the verge of collapse and I for one will be glad to see them go. This is the link to the warranty I found and based my decision on_

We got this Kenmore refrigerator at the Black Friday sale in 2019 at about the lowest price for the year and much cheaper than the nearly identical and also highly rated LG model. After a year of use, we have been very pleased overall.
We chose this model because of its split adjustable shelves (not included on the similar LG model ). This allows a higher space for just half a shelf for taller items such as gallon milk bottles which we keep on a shelf and not on the door. Also, this model came in a true white color, unlike some of the other makes and models that we checked out.
We initially looked at French door models, but after going through the motions of everyday use, decided that the single door would be better. While convenient and perhaps energy saving to be able to open and close only half of the refrigerator at a time, we found that to access the full width drawer and, on some models, to fully open the vegetable and fruit bins, you need to open BOTH of the French doors at the same time. Also we noticed that the door shelves on the French door models don’t hold as much In the aggregate as the single longer ones in the one top door models.
This refrigerator is whisper quiet. Upon delivery, we immediately turned off the built in ice maker in the freezer since we don’t use a lot of ice and ice makers generally are a major reason for repairs as well as operation noise. This model has excellent internal lighting with very bright LED lights. We leave a thermometer in the refrigerator compartment and this unit has kept a fairly even and accurate temperature for the time we’ve had it.

DELIVERY FROM SEARS Space does not allow for a play-by-play account, but the delivery from Sears was a time consuming and frustrating experience!

SEARS EXTENDED WARRANTY Having read that 40% of all refrigerators will have problems in the first 5 years and various reviews mention the very high cost of repairs, and especially the labor charges, after the one year manufacturer’s warranty expires, I decided to get the extended warranty. It was telling that the extended warranty cost about half as much as the sale price of the refrigerator!
This warranty includes an annual “preventive maintenance visit” in each of the 5 warranty years. One of the most important preventive maintenance (PM) items is to clean the coils at least annually. The technician from Boston Joe’s Appliance, apparently the Sears subcontractor in our area, did not have with him the proper equipment to clean the coils! He said that the amount of dust on the coils was nothing and they didn’t need to be cleaned, but clearly there was significant dust and I said they did need to be cleaned. He asked to use our vacuum which I declined and he wanted us to give him cloths to do the job. Finally he did clean the coils and replaced the cover. With this experience, I am not optimistic if a service call is needed for actual repairs.

Not worth the $

I purchased this item in 2015. ?It?s retail value is OVER $2,000.00. ?It broke after five years. Linear Compressor. ?600$ repair job. ? Somehow the part was under ?warranty? but I was responsible for repairs hourly rate. ?I already had the fridge looked at by a LG repairman. ?(Its a LG with a kennmore tag). ?Only Sears could repair. ?Total over $800.00 for a fridge that lasted 5 years. ?Not worth the money. ?This is the second Kennmore fridge I purchased in 7 years. First one the ?Mother board? broke. Total loss. ?Should?ve learned my lesson the first time. ?Sears.....Never again not happy.
