We went with this fridge because it gave us maximum cubic feet for our space restrictions. It is gigantic compared to our old fridge! There's so much room, even filled with food it doesn't look full or get cluttered. We chose single door vs French doors because it gave us more space and I'm happy we did. The freezer is large and spacious and everything seals shut nicely. My 2 year old cant open the freezer or fridge unlike our old one. When the fridge came, the door was squeaking every time we opened it, but it's broke in nicely and doesn't anymore. The freezer is the same way. This is a great fridge for the price and looks beautiful. Highly recommend it.
We bought this less than two years ago, and now have a refrigerant leak which contaminated the compressor. The compressor for this refrigerator is $700+ and the repair was going to be almost $1000. This was our first Sears appliance purchase and will be our last. Purchasers should be alerted to such high part costs. We can't believe we need to replace an appliance that is relatively new.
We purchased this to replace a GE Profile side-by-side, that came with our new house - it was a very inefficient use of space. We love the fact that the shelves are split so you can adjust them to fit your needs. We don’t like milk in the door, so we only had to adjust half the shelf to make room for the gallon jugs. Unlike the regular Kenmore fridge that only comes with full length shelves. I’m bummed that the Elite door is shinier than our regular Kenmore dishwasher and the handles are also different (I’m a matchy matchy type person). Plus, the Elite door cover is not magnetic so now we have to find a place the hang the school schedules. We also experience the same thing that other reviewers have mentioned - this fridge pulls away from the wall each time you open the top door. Even though it’s full of food. We will probably try and lock the wheels even though the install guy said that our wood floor would get marked up. I bought thermometers to verify the temps, and the fridge and freezer stay consistent with the settings. The ice maker can be a bit loud.
I bought this fridge a little over 2 weeks ago. It seems to work fine. It was replacing an 18 year old Kenmore with a top freezer. I was told the new fridges were expected to last 8 years?!?! It is hard to get used to having the freezer on the bottom. The freezer seems to be much larger than my old one. I have a chest freezer and really don't need that much freezer space. I found that if the freezer is empty, the water from the ice maker leaves a frosty mist on all the shelves? This seemed to improve with putting items in the freezer. The ice maker is VERY loud. It seems to work okay though. I have the stainless steel finish and magnets do not stick to the front. The one I saw in the store they did stick. I think I got the older model year. There is a condiment drawer on the door that absolutely NOTHING fits in. It is so shallow and totally useless. The delivery people were not helpful. The door was supposed to be changed to open from the right. They did not do it. They also were supposed to take my old fridge (I paid for this service) and they refused. One of them actually said to me, "We have families too" because they didn't have the time to switch the door or take the old fridge.
