I have never cooked with a convection oven before and was nervous about being able to use the feature, but it was super easy! The food comes out really good too... done on the outside and moist on the inside! And of course it microwaves as well ;)
Preheat only reaches about half the desired temperature which I found out after having several items undercooked. After a repair person found same results, she contacted an expert who said that this is a problem with this model and company is aware of it. There is currently no "FIX" for this problem! Was advised to set temp 50 to 75 degrees higher or more on cook for 30 min before using to cook and "hope for the best!". I had to buy an oven thermometer so I will know when it is heated sufficiently. When door is opened to check oven loses too much heat, adding to cook time. Muffins in a 6 muffin tin are over cooked in the end cups and under cooked in the 2 middle cups. The ones on the ends must be removed from the oven and center muffins cooked at least 10 minutes longer, providing that I did not take too much time opening the door and taking out the pan or the oven will need to heat up again. I had high hopes for this convention microwave oven but have been unimpressed with the quality. Everything cooked is on trial and error basis. Oven cannot be trusted to bake correctly or evenly.
After much research we decided on this microwave/convection oven to consolidate appliances. Very good quality and works great so far - very easy to use and lots of options to meet all your needs.
Got this in 2 days! Very fast! The Unit works great. HOWEVER, it was damaged in shipment. FORTUNATELY the damage did not affect operation. It is out of sight when mounted above stove between the Cabinets. Its a large dent which required me to disassemble correct, and reassemble prior to installation. We had been without one for 15 days and my wife asked me to do what I could to use it rather than hassle with customer service.
Excellent product! Perfect if you don't want to heat up your big oven for something small and quick!
The fixtures for the bulbs in the bottom of the unit are disintegrating. They are cracking so that when a bulb burns out and you try to remove the bulb, the cylinder into which the bulb screws literally falls apart - pieces of grey material will fall off into your hands. Sears wants a minimum $250 for a technician to look at the unit, which in my case is a little over 2 years old. Clearly not a wear and tear issue, but seems more like a faulty materials issue.
