We bought the w & d pair. The washer is great and so is the dryer. We've had them for a couple of months now and I really enjoy using them compared to our old top loads. The steam feature is awesome for touching up clothes that you have left in. Such as when they have gotten cold since you didn't have time to get to folding them. :) If you do use the steam just make sure that you have the container filled up all of the way. Otherwise it will beep at you and tell you to put more water in it. I have noticed that that sometimes the clothes don't get completely dry when using this feature, and that's when I use the touch up feature. The machine will detect how much dry time is left. It's not always perfect but the touch up button will complete it and the clothes will not be wrinkly. The delivery was somewhat of a nightmare but our sales person, Justin was awesome in getting us taken care of. The install crew that they hired installed the w & d opposite of what they should have been. The doors opened up into each other and that wasn't going to fly! They claimed that it couldn't be done the "correct" way; that the dryer venting would get in the way. I measured the area so I knew that wasn't the case. There was also a scratch on the dryer & on the bathroom door. I took a picture and kinda came unglued when calling Sears about the problem. They sent another crew out to switch them around and then made it right with me regarding the scratches. So when the other crew came out and switched them around I noticed another HUGE scratch on the dryer after they had left or home. I took a picture of it and sent that to my salesman as well. He again made it right with me but this time sent a brand new dryer with no charges associated with any of it. I am very pleased with how Sears treated us and would highly recommend Justin at the Sioux City store. I would give the dryer five stars but I would like to see them improve the steam feature so the clothes are completely dry when done and also the dry time detector could be improved a bit, but I still feel that this is an excellent machine compared to our old one.
I bought this dryer in November. Had it replaced three times. First time was a gas leak and the other two times was a faulty temperature gage ...Sears headquarters was no help at all. No one speaks English and no one wants to help I returned both washer and dryer for my money back only had it in my house one month
I always have been a big proponent of Kenmore. I owned Kenmore washer and dryer for more than 15 years. This year I wanted to get myself a better version of Kenmore and I went for Kenmore Elite. I read the reviews and I bought the Kenmore Elite 81583 7.4 cu. Ft. Front Load Electric Dryer w/Steam with a bit of reserve. Unfortunately it was a bad move on my side. I shouldn’t have bought it. I have been having a problem with this dryer from the very beginning. It accumulates water produced by condensation of steam during the drying cycle regardless of the drying program. Time to dry the clothes takes forever regardless of what cycle I choose. During the drying process, the moisture/steam comes outside through the control panel into the laundry room, and the accumulated water drips on the floor. My entire laundry room is full of moisture every time I use the dryer. I reported this problem several times. Sears technicians showed up 4 times, and twice replaced some parts of the dryer. Unfortunately, the problem hasn’t been rectified. I am so disappointed in this dryer and in Sears support services. After so many service visits and service calls, none of the Sears technicians have been able to identify the root cause of the problem. I do not recommend this dryer nor any Sears support services to anyone.
Bought the dryer about a year ago. Did well for 6 months now the lint filter is catching clothes and tearing them. Called Customer Service and they are horrible to deal with. I have dealt with them twice and they are awful. I will never buy another Sears appliance again just because of their customer service department.
The clothes get ripped by the lint filter. It broke and clothes get stuck easily on it. I bought a new filter and it happened again.
