I research everything to the enth degree when buying something in this price range. My recent interest in cake decorating found me needing a good stand style mixer. There are several competitive ones out there. My mind was made up to get a KitchenAide, but in this price range is seems they may have cheapened the machine up too much for the good of the brand. The problems people advised on that unit lead me to find this Kenmore as an alternative. I've had mine for several weeks now, used it for some heavy work and absolutely satisfied of my choice to go with Kenmore / Sears. The machine is well made, has a handy light, 2 good bowls, and conveinently accepts the optiona KA attachments. Add the 5 year warranty vs 1 years, more modern look, it's just the best value out there in this price point. Sure, I'd liked a "designer color", but my black one looks great, white and red available also, but black or white, you can't go wrong when money and quality are the most important.
Simply, love it. (and it's not so terrible noise as some say, it's mixer for crying out loud, so is my vacuum cleaner.)
I purchased this item two years ago and was so excited to use this for my Christmas baking. Kenmore Elite appliances have always impressed me, but now I am disappointed in the products. Last month, while we were out of town, the mixer came on by itself and stayed on for who knows how long. Then, as I was making cookies with my son, the mixer stopped working and only the light would blink. Finally, when I try to shut off the mixer, it doesn't always shut off. This is very disappointing! I am leery of all Kenmore appliances now. Expecting customers to have $200 to spend on small appliances every 2 years is a terrible reputation to have!
Liked the mixer but it is only 3 years old and not used often and it died already. Should have stuck to my old cheap mixer which I had for over 15 years
