Love this dryer because it dries huge loads -- Have a busy household with tons of bedding, clothing, and also lots of delicates and smaller loads. This dryer does it all. I love the smart technology because I'm able to start a load of work clothes, early in the morning before I get out of bed and I don't need to touch up iron because I get them right when they are done with a phone notification. I start the dryer from my bed so it's ready when I'm at the point I need my clothes for work. I also used to always get the dried laundry when it was done, so everything was always so wrinkled, and with the notifications, I'm reminded so I can go get them out before the wrinkles get embedded, even with my sheets it makes a big difference. The front load window is great because I want to take a look and can tell how a load is doing. The different cycles allow me to not have to guess what the best temp and time would be, it's already figured out by the cycle description. The lint filter is large, and I can take it out with one hand easily, it's sturdy, and won't break, and large so it's more efficient on drying costs -- more air flow for quicker drying. Love the new steam tech for my delicates and a quick wrinkle removing from clothes stuffed too tightly in my closet. It's the best dryer I've ever had.
Been having issues since we bought the machine 6 months ago. The dryer will error out and not start if the clothes are too hot when they come out of the washer. The corresponding washer that we bought with the dryer is a steam washer, so when the load is finished the clothes are warm. I have had to wait at times 30 minutes for the clothes to cool before I can put them in the dryer. The lint filter has melted so now my clothes are getting stuck/tangled on the edge of the filter which has ruined a couple of shirts. In addition the back vent inside the machine is rusted and the dryer is less than 6 months old. Needless to say I am extremely disappointed in the quality of the product and would not recommend it to anyone.
Hard to know where to begin here because the delivery crew was as incompetent as I've ever seen. I also don't make a habit of reviewing products because I never have an issue with the things that I order. First of all, I searched for washers and dryers online for two weeks before I settled on the kenmore elites from sears. Sears had the best price and these washers and dryers looked sharp. When I ordered online the delivery was set for a couple of days later but as soon as I bought the items with a credit card, the delivery was moved to three weeks in advance because one of the items was unavailable at that time. I wish I knew that before I purchased the items. When the Delivery crew finally arrived, they thought that they were just dropping off the items and leaving. I told the man at the door that I ordered the whole package, washer, dryer, pedestals, installation and haul away of the old items. He seemed confused and walked back to the truck. There were three guys in this delivery team. They first came inside to take out the old items. They had a single wench with them and no other tools. I had to loan them my tape measure. They disconnected the washer but couldn't disconnect the dryer as the hose for the natural gas was seized on the back of the dryer. (Don't they often encounter this issue?). So the old dryer was left there and he told me to call a plumber to have them remove the hose. Now they started to bring in the new items. They had a dolly but believe it or not, there was no top strap on the dolly so as the washer and dryer was being rolled up my driveway, one guy had to hold the box from the back as to keep it from falling off the dolly. they unboxed the washer outside and packing material was thrown all over my yard. As the rolled it inside there was no respect for my baseboard heaters or anything else in the pathway of the dolly as they rolled it down the hallway. Then they had to carry the washer and dryer down stairs to the basement and they seemed confused as to how to accomplish this like they've never did this before. they told me that they didn't want to scratch the machines because it was a narrow fit into the basement door and they wanted to just leave the machines in my kitchen. I told them I'll take responsibility for the scratches and just please get them down the stairs. Finally the washer, dryer, and pedestals are down in the basement. Again no respect for my old furnace which happens to be next to where the washer and dryer are to be placed. The machines and the men are bumping into the furnace etc. Once the washed pedestal is laid flat, the men place the washer on top. Now they have no clue how to set this up. The guy tells me he never did this before. How do you send a crew to do an installation which I paid for that is this incompetent? So the washer and the pedestal washer are not setup. As for the dryer, that pedestal is left in the box and the new machine isn't setup. I would continue but I ran out of space.
I bought this dryer to be stacked with the matching washer. I know lots of folks will side by side the pair, but I like the space saving of stacking. For reference, my previous stacked set was a Kemore HE4t (manufactured in 2006, by Whirlpool for the Sears Kenmore brand--it's the same dimensions as the Whirlpool Duet models). This new Kenmore set is made by LG. The capacity is bigger (my old HE4t dryer was 7.0 cu ft.), which is great because it dried my thick winter king size comforter with no issues at all. On the bulky bedding/comfprter setting I still had to remove the comforter twice and unfold it and put it back in to get it all the way dry, there were no singe marks and it was way less wrinkled than it has been when I've dried it in other dryers.
It handles jeans, shirts, towels, delicates--anything we throw in there. I haven't used the steam feature a lot yet so I will try to update my review in a month or two to let you know how that feature has performed.
The 'smart feature' is unreliable and must be reset all the time. I had read reviews and spoke with repairmen before choosing this set. The reviews were right on the money when they said the smart feature *****. The holiday sale was so incredible that the smart feature Kenmore Elite was the same price as the one without the smart feature, so I took a chance--after all, the washer and dryer both will function fine even if you decide not to use that feature. I downloaded the app to my iPhone, scanned the QR codes on the inside of the dryer door and followed the directions exactly. I could not make it connect to my home's wi-fi network, despite being able to get the washer to connect just fine. I waited on hold for over 2 hours with customer service and technical support and they weren't able to help me either. Their answer was to have the install team come back and hook it up. Now, the install guys were nice, strong, and knowledgeable, but I just got the feeling that they wouldn't know anything about the wi-fi smart components to this appliance set. I wanted a service tech to come--but it was going to be another 10 business days before they could get a tech to me--meanwhile the dryer works fine--except for connecting to my wi-fi. Fast forward a couple of days (and a few HEAVY loads--maybe something just jostled into place) and I tried to setup the dryer's smart system feature again & it worked. I have no idea why, but it did.
The smart feature only works when the power is on, so if your dryer turned off and you don't have the 'wrinkle guard' box checked on the app (and there is probably some way you can set the wrinkle guard manually on the control panel), you won't be able to control the dryer from the app. There are a lot of bugs to be worked out with the 'smart feature' and very little technical support for it.
The other con besides the smart feature is the height of the control panel if you stack the set, but I'm 5'4" and I can reach it.
Looks beautiful next to the matching washer and so far it works great.
I purchased this dryer in November 2018. I had also purchased the matching washing machine a few weeks earlier. They both are amazing! This dryer is so quiet. It holds so much more than my old dryer. The clothes are dry in a short amount of time. It is very efficient in its gas usage. It is beautiful to look at. I am so happy we purchased this dryer. I highly recommend it.
