Great Range *****Stars

I waited to review this range until I had really given it a work out. I have now had this range for 6 months and it is fantastic. I got it in white with the white glass top. Note: clean spills immediately after cool down with glass range cleaner. and it will look pristine. Convection is a wonderful thing! Biscuits & cakes rise unbelievably high. Cooking time is reduced. Self cleaning oven is great. Note: If you choose white DO NOT use standard clean time of 3 hrs- will turn the oven door top brown.Learned this lesson on the last range. Usually just an hour is plenty. Remove racks also if you like them shiny as they will dull if left inside during clean cycle. Programming is easy and accurate, as is oven temperatures. My only negative about this range is that the Hot indicator light could show which burner is indicated.

Disappointed

I loved it at first but after owning for only 15 months, it needs repair. The broiler is not working and the oven will not heat above 295 degrees. I believe the element has gone bad. After only owning for 15 months! Very disappointed as it was not cheap in price, just cheaply made.

We just bought our house in May and needless to say the appliances were not new. We gave have always been happy with Kenmore and still are. The features on this stove are wonderful. I look forward to many good meals!

Bad purchase

|

I purchased this particular range because Consumer Reports highly recommended it. I also liked the white top and the warming drawer. The first range that was delivered had to be returned because there was a foggy looking film on the oven window that couldn't be removed. The second range that was delivered was damaged on one side when they took it out of the box. The third range seemed to be in perfect condition. I really liked it and was very happy with it until after a little over two years, the oven wouldn't turn off. I had to unplug it. The Sears repairman came and said it needed a new control panel and that it would cost over $700 to repair the range. I certainly expected to get more than two and a half years out of this range. I guess I got a lemon. I'm not sure what brand to buy at this point.

So many problems

|

We have had this stove 3 years and purchased the extended warranty. The first year the glass front on stove door exploded out and I had to fight to get a replacement.  It was obviously defective and could visibly see it was an explosion from inside outward.  The replacement stoves motherboard sparked and burned out less than a year later.  This time, 4 days ago, on our 3rd replacement the stove sparked and caught fire on the motherboard while we were cooking on stovetop. This time I called it quits and will never get another Kenmore appliance.

Nice stove with lots of bells and whistles

|

Learning to cook on my new range has been an experience. It was the only white range I could find that was available for delivery in less than 4 weeks. Sears delivered my range in 2 days from purchase. The sales personal were very helpful in explaining the differences in the ranges. CONS: However with the white range, the ceramic stove top is also white. If one purchases the white range, be ready to invest in Scotch Soft Scrub pads and lots of ceramic stove top cleaner. It must be cleaned after each use. It is also a good idea to clean the bottom of your pots and skillets with the cleaner. It helps to reduce the amount of residue from cooking. I have used stainless, T-Fal, and other name brand skillets on the range. All of them leave a brownish residue on the eyes. I did not have this issue with my previous range. ALSO, I have had to reduce the baking temperature by 5 to 10 degrees. One must also be attentive to what is cooking on the stove top. It, too, heats quickly and will boil over making a horrible mess.
