This unit is well built and easy to use. It's pretty quiet also. You will have to dump the bucket often or use a water hose with the attachment. I wanted to leave a review on this product, because it just seems to be so well made and works great. I took back a similar product from another store that was not as well made. The bucket comes out and in very easily, which was my chief complaint against the other brand.
I have had several Kenmore dehumidifiers over the years. The older ones were very good quality and lasted 10+ years. I have noticed that newer dehumidifiers have a much shorter life -- both the Kenmore ones and another brand. Recent dehumidifiers do well to last 5 years. We have had two Kenmore 50 pint dehumidifiers of similar models but different years that have stopped working after only a short time. I don't know how long the previous one lasted, but our current one has lasted less than a year. I ordered it last summer because our previous Kenmore one had quit producing any water, and now this one freezes and produces much less water than it should. It never iced up until about a week ago. It is getting ice halfway up the front of it. I turned it off for several days to let the ice melt, and then turned it on again, and it iced up again. The filter looks clean, and we have treated this humidifier the same way as all previous dehumidifiers. I honestly am not sure that it ever worked as well as our previous Kenmore 50 pint, because the bucket did not seem to fill up as quickly as any of our previous dehumidifiers.
I just wanted to let everyone know that we purchased a 40-Pint Kenmore Dehumidifier in June, 1980 and it just wore out on June 2, 2019. It was 39 years old and ran all the time in our basement when it was humid. I'll bet you will never find another one built like the one in 1980. Unfortunately we purchased a GE because we were not sure whether Sears still was in business since the stores have closed and I just pulled up this website and now I know. It the GE goes bad I'll be back to Kenmore.
Bought about a year ago, got divorced, and took this with me. Both were good decisions :) Thought about getting another machine for the other room, probably the kenmore 35 pt. (smaller) one for the smaller room. Good quality, quiet, and looks awesome.
Thankful for extended warranty. first one lasted 2 years, second on e 9 months, now it is no longer available so I am forced to replace it with a lesser model or pay the difference for a more expensive model. Extended warranty was honored so highly recommend it with these type of appliances.
