This unit is well built and easy to use. It's pretty quiet also. You will have to dump the bucket often or use a water hose with the attachment. I wanted to leave a review on this product, because it just seems to be so well made and works great. I took back a similar product from another store that was not as well made. The bucket comes out and in very easily, which was my chief complaint against the other brand.
I have had several Kenmore dehumidifiers over the years. The older ones were very good quality and lasted 10+ years. I have noticed that newer dehumidifiers have a much shorter life -- both the Kenmore ones and another brand. Recent dehumidifiers do well to last 5 years. We have had two Kenmore 50 pint dehumidifiers of similar models but different years that have stopped working after only a short time. I don't know how long the previous one lasted, but our current one has lasted less than a year. I ordered it last summer because our previous Kenmore one had quit producing any water, and now this one freezes and produces much less water than it should. It never iced up until about a week ago. It is getting ice halfway up the front of it. I turned it off for several days to let the ice melt, and then turned it on again, and it iced up again. The filter looks clean, and we have treated this humidifier the same way as all previous dehumidifiers. I honestly am not sure that it ever worked as well as our previous Kenmore 50 pint, because the bucket did not seem to fill up as quickly as any of our previous dehumidifiers.
I have gone through 2 new dehumidifiers in the last years-&-a-half: a Haier, & a Fridgidaire--both died prematurely, despite careful use. So I found this Kenmore, & I'm very happy with it. I set it up, & set the humidity to "45%" in a 700 sq. ft. space full of furniture--within an hour, the humidity level on a separate gauge read 45%. And (amazingly) it also brought dow the humidity in an adjoining 360 sq. ft room at the same time! Recommended! This is relatively compact compared to comparable models, & runs sparingly--the EnergyStar rating is important to me. (Too bad this doesn't come with a remote.)
