To test its heating speed, I put a gallon of water in a big pot and turned the temperature control of this hot plate to maximum. It took 45 minutes to heat the water to boiling. During the heating process, the indicator light turned on and off many times, which showed the heating was not continuous. This is no big deal if you don't mind slow cooking.
Single burner was filthy & clearly used!
Good product, reasonable price. I encountered none of the problems mentioned in previous reviews.
I used this in a school setting to make from scratch chicken and noodles. We knew we needed something powerful enough to boil the noodles (in chicken broth). It took a while to get to temperature, but even in a heavy pressure cooker, it worked- we even had to turn it down! It is sturdy and super easy to use. We will be purchasing more since it worked so well and is not priced much above hot plates of far inferior quality for sale at a large national chain store.
While the burner gets real hot, the control buttons got messed up after a few weeks. So, you can't really tell if it's on low or high. A disappointment for the money!
