After extensive shopping, I purchased this smoker online. It happened to be on sale and I got it for around $335. Here are my thoughts so far after about 6-8 meals: ASSEMBLY- pretty straight forward and simple. It took me about 1.5 hrs. All of the hardware fit perfectly and things lined up well. It came with a huge Kenmore sticker on the hopper lid and it was a pain to remove. After I removed as much as I could, I sprayed WD-40 on the glue residue and wiped it right off 5 minutes later. GRILL CONSTRUCTION: appears to be very well built so far. It has an appropriately heavy lid and all of the internals (racks, heat baffle, etc.) seem to be made of quality materials. COOKING: I am still learning, but so far, so good. Smoking is an altogether different animal. I've experimented with several different wood pellets, seasoning, etc. and the results have been impressive. The temperature probes work very well. The only issue that I have encountered so far concerns the maintenance of temperature. Sometimes, the temp seems to keep climbing regardless of how low I set it. Not sure if this is an isolated problem specific to my individual smoker or not. And the truth is that it could be operator error on my end!! Either way, if you're in the market for a smoker, this one is a great deal when compared to other brands. A comparably sized Traeger would be twice as much as I paid. Buy with confidence, you won't be disappointed!!
The smoker doesn't keep the temperature low enough.
I've had this for about 6 months and I bought the 2 year protection plan with it to stay protected! I've pushed this thing to the max! I've done beer can chicken, pork butts and shoulders, beef roast, briskets (my fav), steaks etc.. I've smoked food for 15 hrs on this beast and never any issues!!! Highly recommended and worth the price between $389.99-$499.99. I bought mine for $499.99 and no regrets!! Definitely worth the buy and you'll love it I promise!!! I have to smoke 2 turkeys this upcoming Thanksgiving and will be my first time!
Great quality. Easy setup and use
Purchased July 12, 2018 $399 plus tax Seemed like a real good deal for a Pellet Smoker Grill. WRONG The dam thing wont heat up beyond 350-375 degrees. Bought expensive pellets but same problem. Only used it a couple of times and put it away for the Winter. Today I had a Sears Service Tech look at it but couldn't figure out the problem. He tried to order a hopper auger heater unit but he said the part number was invalid? So he ordered a control and heater and asked if I could put it in when it came, which I agreed to do. But by the time it comes I will be out of warranty so if it doesn't work I'll probably be stuck with a piece of junk. This has a Kenmore label but it's made by Z Grills even the new model number carries Z model number. The Kenmore has a 1 year warranty but Z Grills have a 2 year warranty? All are made in China but it appears the Kenmore model is somewhat inferior based on other problems listed by users.
