To give me more bowl options and to be able to microwave (after removing the rubber threaded bowl bottom), refrigerate, and freeze foods that I have used in my Artisan, I got a great deal on a KitchenAid 5-Qt. Tilt-Head Glass Bowl with Measurement Markings and Lid (K5GB), to store foods in the refrigerator. This glass bowl, unlike the metal bowl from India that comes with the unit, will never shed any metal bits. It also gives me double bowl space for different foods that are used in the same or different recipes. The bowl, however, is heavier than the 'stainless steel' bowl, and some buyers have had theirs crack and/ or break. I also use mine as a huge mixing bowl, so I'm constantly using it off of my mixer, too. I had an issue with my bowl: it screwed on fine, but it wouldn't unscrew. After viewing an online video of another buyer's same problem, I learned that if I counterintuitively TIGHTENED the bowl FURTHER, the bottom rubber bowl threads popped out it out from the mixer bowl base! (Note that some Artisans come with the glass bowl as part of their standard package. Pro 600s, however, don't come a glass bowl at all, but a glass bowl package can be purchased separately.) Note: KitchenAid should create a glass bowl that doesn't shatter but is also lighter and can also accommodate a pouring shield. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)
After putting it through the dishwasher for the first time it just barely touched my granite counter top and a big part of the spout came off. I was shocked. It was the exterior part so I thought it was safe as long as I didn't use it to pour anything. After a little while longer I noticed a long crack down the bowl and I hardly ever used it. No idea how that even happened. This product is way too fragile. I was heartbroken. As a food writer and photographer, it was so great to capture light into the bowl but it is not worth it. This item should be recalled.
Was gifted this model for Christmas and I absolutely love it.
I have wanted one of these for years, but it seemed like a big purchase for an empty-nesters, like my husband and me. I mentioned to my husband that I was going to start looking for one at a resale shop or a used one online. I was so surprised to find my new Artisan Design Series mixer under the Christmas tree! I have used it over and over, ever since I got it. My husband even cleaned off the desk in our kitchen and that is the new home for my mixer! Love, love, love it!
I have wanted a Kitchenaid mixer all my life. At 61, I was gifted with this just this past Christmas! I am now making fresh beads again and so much more. I love using it and the easy clean up.
I bought this a few weeks ago after wanting one for years! I used it the first time to mix 2 cakes and buttercream icing.. it turned out fantastic! Can't wait to try the pasta roller! This is going to take my cooking/baking to a whole new level!
Seriously SO easy to use and the attachments go on and off like butter! I'm so happy I finally treated myself with this!!
This is my second KitchenAid Stand Mixer (first one lasted 13 years even after I dropped it on the concrete floor). It's way more quiet than my old one - we can actually have a conversation while it's on. The base is a little bigger than the old one and the unit seems more balanced, so it doesn't dance around the countertop. I really like the glass bowl - you can see the bottom and whether everything is well blended - no surprise flour at the bottom of the bowl as you transfer your cake to the form. The color is vibrant and absolutely beautiful. I'm very satisfied overall with the performance and the design. It is the most used appliance in my kitchen.
