This pouring shield works great with the mixer because it allows you to pour in runny liquids right into the bowl while it is running without any spillage! It is easily cared for and worth the mess you are not making for having it on.
I received my Artisan KitchenAid as a birthday gift from my grandma a couple years ago, but I've never been able to use the pouring shield that came with it. It's really flimsy, and doesn't want to fit properly. It falls off before I even have the chance to turn my mixer on! It has these three lips around it that look like they'd fit the bowl, but when I go to put it on... it's like warped or something. Poor design. I'm still disappointed, even after having it for a couple years, because I always have a need for it...
I always use my shield. I have the artisan and this shield came with it. Well, my friend came over to make cookies. She's not a cook. She whips this thing on woth no shield and poof.... messy kitchen! I showed her how to use the shield and now she loves it. Messes happen without the shield when you run full speed amd you have ko idea what you are doing! I love it!
The poring shield does not fit the bowl properly. It slides off every time I try to use it, making more of a mess. It doesn?t sit properly in the 5 quart bowl. Very disappointed
Like many others that have commented on the pouring shield, it simply does NOT prevent splatter and I always wind-up wearing what ever I am trying to add. Very disappointed in the quality because the Mixer is a gem. Thank you
There is no way to keep the shield on the bowl. It jumps off at the slightest touch or movement. I contacted KitchenAid and the answer was that it was designed to be a loose fit. Well, it is designed incorrectly. The solution is to put three strips of masking tape around the shield and attach it to the bowl. Seems the designers could come up with something that works on a mixer that costs this much.
