I am LOVIN' this fridge!!!

I decided to wait until I had this fridge for almost three months before reviewing it, in case any issues popped up right away, and none have. I agonized for weeks over what fridge to buy, before finally deciding on this one, basing my decision on the LG brand name, which I have always had good luck with in numerous applications, good reviews of the unit from other people, and the better quality of the interior, drawers, etc.. I have not been disappointed. From day one, it has operated so quietly I can barely even hear it when I am standing right next to it. It keeps temperatures constant throughout the fridge and freezer sections, and has good lighting. The in-door ice maker frees up space in the freezer, and still leaves enough room in the door for storage, and quietly produces plenty of ice for our needs. (There is no clunking and screeching noises happening. There is no noise at all.) The ice is a little smaller than what I am used to, but I like it, because I can shove ice into beverage containers/bottles that have small openings. I also REALLY like the way the water and ice dispensers are set up, with the water to the front, which makes filling ANYTHING with water, that is any size or shape, simple. Additionally, the height and depth of the opening to get your ice dispensed would accommodate an ice bucket if needed, so I like that also. The drawers and shelves do not feel flimsy, and should stand up to regular use with no problem. The design of the entire fridge was well thought out, with my only wish being that it had a lunch meat/cheese drawer, but I took care of that by simply snagging the one that was in my prior fridge and placing it on the bottom shelf above the two Fresh Zones/crispers, making sure everyone knows it is not attached to the fridge so they don't yank it all the way out. Now. . . . .I want to see this baby last me for a decade. . . .instead of just a couple years like my LAST, very expensive, fridge.

Food poisoning standard

In just under 30 days from NEW the evaporator fan stopped thus freezing everything in the bottom of the fridge solid including the water dispenser. At the same time it defrosted everything above in the fridge/freezer. This included melting all the ice so the ice dispenser dumped water then ice, and melted ice water was leaking from the freezer door handle. The LED ice maker nightlight lasts about 3 weeks on steady then dims out more than 70%. Sears replaced a board and LG has them replace the entire in door dispenser ($200) for the single bad LED light. Week later I hear the fan hitting something and again it defrosts everything above a line in the freezer and 60 degrees in the top fridge. Maybe Sears should have replaced the fan as well the 1st time. Spent 2 days out sick with food poisoning before throwing all my ruined food away. Returned for a NON-LG Fridge. Was a quiet unit but after a service visit and no resolution I don't want to get sick again.

LG Refridgerator

|

DO NOT BUY THIS REFRIGERATOR. LG has a widespread compressor issue. Our fridge is 4 years old and we just had to replace both the compressor and condenser. Thank God we purchased the master protection plan so the parts and labor were at no cost to us. What is more frustrating than the bad parts is the fact that it took three techs to get it looked at. The first two were no shows. Everyone you call is from India and could really care less about your issue. Long story short it took 4 weeks to get the parts and the fridge repaired. I'm trying to save you the time and frustration we went through with this issue. It is a shame that LG has this issue because I love everything about this fridge but what we just went through is totally unacceptable customer service with the money spent on this product.

The door does not close completely

The door does not completely close creating lots of water inside. I tried to repair but I had to purchase service package which costs several hundred dollars.
