Looks nice BUT controls are hard to see due to backlighting

Our old LG washing machine died after 9 years so we bought a replacement thinking it would be same as the old one... WRONG, the display on the right has control you have to touch and the screen doesn't have backlighting so it very hard to see what your selecting. even the LED lights next to the selection is dim, so we end up having to use a flashlight to see what we are selecting on the panel. We still have our old LG dryer stacked on top and that was very easy to use, so the question for LQ is why you guys didn't put back lighting on the display panel? PS be very careful how long you hold down button, we also turned on Child Lock and had no idea why we were locked out of the controls. You have to go online to see how to use the machine since the book that comes with it is for setup... Guess next time might be another brand.

Very pleased with this washer

|

First let me say that the ********** associate I talked to in my local store was very helpful, very patient as I must've asked him 25 questions. Before entering the store, I spent weeks reading hundreds of reviews online from any website I could find reviewing washers in my spare time. Decided on LG. My old front load washer was Kenmore and although it finally broke, I was pretty happy with the way it always cleaned.....until I got the LG. My main reason for buying LG was reliability and my main reason for buying this particular model was the internal water heater that would keep the water as hot as possible throughout the lengthy cycles. I'm a clean freak, and a bit of a laundryphile. When white socks get dingy looking, they get tossed. White bathtowels the same, they're retired to the garage when they're no longer white. Said all that to say that I'm fussy! ********** delivery was fantastic. They called when they said they would, showed up on time and took my old washer. The whole process took 10 min. I chose to hook the new washer up myself and set up the WIFI. The instructions in the manual for setting up WIFI are basically useless and confusing. I ended up on youtube and watched a short video to show me how. This WIFI configuration is like nothing I'd ever seen before. Im good with tech as a rule and this really stumped me. Once over that hump I was ready to do some laundry. For the first test load, I took six of those old white towels that had been retired to the garage for drying cars. Used Miele Ultra White detergent (as I always do) and ran them on the Whitest Whites cycle. This machine runs so quietly its spooky. I kept going back in to check and make sure it was actually still running. Very pleased with it's almost silent operation. Even the drain pump is exceptionally quiet. I chose the highest spin setting for the towels and again, super quiet even on highest setting. (Note that washer is sitting on cement slab) A little over 2 hours later the cycle was done, as indicated by a message on my iPhone. (Wifi is uncecessary but it sure is cool) I was amazed when I pulled these towels out of the wash. These towels have been beat up pretty badly, stained, yellowed etc. Several of these towels I had folded up and used in the car to protect my floormats! These babies were DIRTY. I'd say 85% of the stains were gone, and 100% of the yellowing - GONE. For 10+ year old towels- this is very impressive. I have absolutely no problem with a 2 or 2.5 hour cycle as long as I'm getting results like this. Very impressed with its cleaning ability.

Some reviews complain that this machine doesn't use enough water, I disagree. Although it may seem satisfying to look through the glass during a cycle and see lots of water and suds sloshing around, clearly this machine does not need that much water to do it's job very well. It's so important to use a good quality detergent. Throw your Tide, Gain etc. into the trash where it belongs. Don't buy laundry soap from

Don’t shop with Sears - I rate them a 0

Very unhelpful. During checkout delivery date was 3/27. After checkout, the delivery date ser at 4/3 (i’m Out of town). Multiple calls to Sears, last one was 30 minutes and transferred 5 times. I called LG who said they are willing to work with Sears to see if they can change the delivery date. LG has to talk to Sears but no one from Sears will call LG. I’ll be canceling order and going to **********.
