Fantastic Washer - Consumer Reports ********

Our old front loader finally gave up after 8 years. Wife said never again will we buy a front loader, and I agreed. After reading 100's of online reviews and becoming thoroughly confused (one review says "GREAT!" The next always says "Worst Ever!" - decided to subscribe to Consumer Reports and see what they had to say. Overall they say LG is the most reliable washer, and this model was voted a "********" and had the highest rating of any top loader HE machine. So after doing some more research of Agitator vs. HE top loaders we went for it. So glad we did. First of all, the tub is HUGE and the washer is FAST. Putting in a full regular sized round laundry basket barely filled it to half. A rectangular sized laundry basket still doesn't fill it all the way. When you you put in the laundry, the readout read 60min, but after it senses the load, presumably by weight, we haven't had a load take over 36 minutes! Water Level: You can immediately discount any one star review you read on this machine that says the water level is "too low" or "doesn't cover the clothes." This isn't your Mom's agitator washer from 1985! These washers are the top loading equivalent of an HE front loader. They use less water - and every load we have put in, about 100 so far, has come out clean and perfect. The top is even glass so you can watch everything get nice and wet and clean! One other very useful feature is the SPEED WASH feature. It is for 3-4 items and takes about 20 minutes. Perfect for teenagers who forget to ash their work uniforms till the last minute. I can't recommend this washer enough, and Sears had it here in 2 days! Best delivery experience I've ever had and Live Chat was awesome as well.

Months later and still no working washer...

We are very, very unhappy with our on-going problem with LG on a model WT7100CW washer. The machine was purchased in April. It had a problem from the very first use of making a loud clanking sound through most of the wash cycle. A discussion with LG customer support and listening to the sound over the phone we were told that it was probably the clutch assembly. A service call was arranged with A&E Service (Sears?). The technician arrived, inspected the machine and declared that the problem was the clutch assembly, however she did not have the part with her and had to order the part. Time goes by. The next service call, the part was installed and now the machine will not wash at all! Another 2 parts ordered. Cannot get the next service call until September. In the meantime we have a large event with many house guests. LG will not replace the machine. They will not accelerate the repair. They will not refund our money. To recap, we bought this machine in April. It has never worked properly. After 2 service calls, it does not work at all. We will not have a working machine until sometime in September at the earliest. Bought in April, no washing until sometime in September. If then. Apparently LG thinks this is OK. BTW, we have purchased 3 LG appliances in the last 6 months. A big mistake, apparently. (To their credit, the LG customer support people have been polite, helpful and reasonably knowledgeable, but that doesn?t help the basic problem. The one manager I spoke with was curt and failed to call back when the call dropped out.)

Great washer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this about a month ago. Far superior to the GE similar model. Quiet, does not need to repeatedly balance. easy to operate.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Everything is good with the auto settings but two things that I miss that was on my Maytag is that I cannot set a cold water rinse and if after the last spin if the clothes are still somewhat wet I cannot set for another spin.

So far very pleased

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a GE that had different parts break over the five years I had it, including the transmission. This LG was easy to install, fairly priced, and does a great job of cleaning our laundry. I'm happy to ditch the auger. The only improvement I can suggest is for there to be more details included on the quick-start guide for operating the machine. It took a few tries of playing around with the control pad to figure out how to use the controls.

Direct Drive

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought a whirlpool washer 5 years ago. It was a wrong decision I every made. It broke down and with parts and labor it would add up to a new one. We buy our appliances through best buy and we had told our sales person Matt Barnett what happened and he suggested buying an LG Direct Drive. We did and for a month now our family of 6 enjoys it's features and how well it washes our clothes. We were looking at a Maytag with similar features but... It cost more. Another thing about LG is we bought LG TV 9 months ago of which we had a Sony Bavaria of which only lasted 3 years. The remote sensor went out and I though Sony was a Great Brand. But it failed so we turned to LG TV and enjoy the features and Quality. We will be sticking with LG all the way.
Thanks LG for doing a Great Job making Great Appliances.
