My mother got this for my daughter who is 14 months old. My daughter is a little hard to read sometimes, but I'm pretty sure she likes it. On hot days I like to turn the shell cover upside-down and pour some water into it for a little splash pool, I know my daughter likes that! It is big enough that a couple of small kids would have plenty of room to play. I am impressed by the strength of the plastic that the turtle is made from. Some workers had to move it the other day and they picked it up, full of close to 200lbs of sand and even though the plastic bent, it didn't break and held it's shape well. The only thing I would change would be to add a way to secure the lid when not in use so it won't blow away in the wind. A rock works, but it makes the lid dent in and it collects water. My daughter also loves the big box that it came in.
I was disappointed in the new little Tikes turtle sandbox I received as a gift for my granddaughter. I had the old turtle sand box, which I thought to be better in appearance,as well as sturdier. The old sandbox lasted 25 plus years and had two raised locking knobs on both sides. It never blew off and lasted outside till the tree in my backyard had to be taken down. A stray tree limb fell on the lid splitting it and causing water to get into the box. The tree people offered to replace the box. When it arrived, the product looked similar, but not as sturdy and the lid blew off everyday. I'm sorry to say I will be returning this product. Maybe the next version will return with the raised locking knobs ???A previously satisfied little tikes customer.
I ordered this sandbox for my 2 year old granddaughter for Christmas. This is not the same quality and size as the one my children had in the 80s. It is flimsy , smaller and the lid blows off and has to be weighted down with something to keep lid from blowing off. I was, as well as my daughter, very disappointed in the product. I will not be purchasing any little tykes products in the future. The quality is no longer there.
