This is my second season running my XI-2 tires. I'm particularly impressed with my treadlife and fuel economy during my first season. I haven't had large amounts of unplowed snow/ice to drive around in... so I don't have "extreme" conditions experience with this tire but I had noticeably more traction and comfortable handling in turns and when needing to brake or steer suddenly on WI winter roads.
I bought these 2 years ago for my MDX. I drive through the country to work everyday and those roads are usually the last to be cleared. I also enjoy going to the poconos for skiing and tubing. These tires have paid for themselves many times over. On more than one occasion i have been behind someone who cant get up a hill, they stop begin to slide backwards and i have been able to stop, maneuver around and continue up the hill. On many occasion i feel like im the only car not disabled. Great purchase.
I bought these ICE-X tires 2 winters ago. They are simply amazing. They are winter tires on a ‘13 3.0 A6 w/ Quattro. They almost give me a sense of overconfidence as they handle so well. They have excellent tread life; That’s important as the temperatures in IN swing from sub freezing to the 40°’s. They give me a superb ride and are amazingly quiet (both the ride and sound level are better than my current summer tires that came with the vehicle). I have recommended these tires to other friends that have needed winter tires and they are equally pleased. I have always replaced tires with Michelin brand tires; just like the all other tires I’ve had, these don’t disappoint.
I have used these tires on my Ford Focus for 3 years now. Everyone is concerned with the snow, but what is more dangerous is the Black Ice and the Slush. It will make your car wipe out fast. Once I popped these tires on I have been firmly planted on the road. I also bought a set for my sons Sonic, and now I am getting another set for our new Van. Like the title says. This is necessary GEAR for upstate NY.
I am on my 6th, 3 year, 36K mile leased 4WD Jeep Grand Cherokee. All "all Season" rated tires are not the same in winter driving. Most did pretty well in winter in upstate NY but my previous Jeep (Quadra Trac II) could not get out of its own way in the snow or ice. I know it was the tires and not the Jeep. So I ordered X-IceXi2 for my current lease (also QTII). Before they came in I drove 2 weeks in snow. Even though these new all season tires did pretty well, when I put the X-Ice on there was a HUGE improvement. Stopping, cornering and traction are much, much better in ice, slush, average snow and packed snow. For deep snow they are only OK.
I commute 45 minutes each way to work with these tires during the winter in Vermont and they have been exceptional. There has been no noticeable loss of fuel economy and next to no increased road noise over the stock tires. The grip has been very noticeable in all winter conditions from snow (4 - 6 inches) , slush and icy frosty roads. I feel very confident commuting with these tires!
