Got this as a gift from my father. Great tea maker. Easy to use and hardly any cleanup. We love it. By the way it also makes perfect tea every time. Another great product from Nesco "A great American Company"
This is a well designed easy to use tea pot. Works with bagged tea and loose tea. Has variable time so you can steep special teas to perfection. It's easy to clean, if you clean it every time after using it. If you let it sit overnight and dry out in the pot you will get stains. Also you need to clean it after each use. Not once a month or just whenever. It's kind of like a frying pan or a smooth top electric stove. If you don't clean the bottom of the frying pan and the smooth top on the electric stove after every use, the grease will build up and be impossible to clean.
The instructions advise NEVER to place pots in the dishwasher. Had I know that, I wouldn't have bought it. This unit is a horror to clean. Brewing chamber has crannies that are hard to access for cleaning and is all plastic, so you have to be careful not to scratch it. The glass teapot is equally awful regarding cleaning. The plastic lid is permanently attached to the pot! The lid flops down on your hand while you attempt to clean the pot. Every coffeepot I ever owned had a removable lid, so I fail to understand why some engineer thought this was a better idea. The pot itself has two circular ridged areas that are hard to clean; residue gets caught. This isn't automatic. You have to turn it on and wait about 15 mins; not good for someone who isn't a morning person. Filling mechanism is s-l-o-w. I formerly used an electric water kettle which heated water faster, and we simply brewed 2 cups of tea at a time in tea cups. It took up less counter space & required minimal minimal cleaning.
