Got a great deal on the ACT EllipticalTrainer from Sears online. It arrived as scheduled and It took about 2hr 30 min to assemble. I have assembeld numerous things in my 54 years--I must say, the instructions were the best I have ever seen and it went together without a hitch--did not even require massive amounts of beer! I have done 3 Ifit workouts in the last 3 days and the Trainer works perfect and is as quiet as can be. My girlfriend came out to check on me the other night because it was so quiet--she thought I may have had a heart attack. I will say the workouts on the Elliptical are much harder than on a treadmill. I feel like I am getting a much better workout in half the time on the Elliptical than I would spend on a treadmill. So far I am more than pleased with my purchase!
We purchased (2)of these machines due to their compact nature. We had them both delivered and assembled by Sears. Within the 1st few days both machines were making a lot of noise, like pieces on the handle assemblies were loose. We called Sears and they sent out 2 new machines and assembled those. Within 2 months 1 of the units has a really loose right handle and the other one makes that clicking sound while peddling with the arms. We have the extended warranty which is NOT serviced by Sears and when calling NordicTrac was asked to tighten up the stuff ourselves and when I refused was told that I needed to get the owners manual out and tell the representative what part(s) were malfunctioning. I am not a technician and the owners manual is so detailed with all of the pieces and bolts. Come on. If I had known that Sears themselves did NOT service this item I would have NOT purchased it.
I waited a while to review. This machine gives a great workout without stress on my bad knees. Results a quick and amazing. As with most reviews, I agree with an annoying loud clunking sound! And there is nothing you can do to fix it, tightening or otherwise. Other than that it works great!
Works great. Easy to assemble, lay all parts out before assembly and follow directions (which are pretty good). One person can door the job but some steps are easier with two people. I have assembled two of them, one for a friend.
This machine does work very well, so performance it's a 5, but my husband I and have quite different stride lengths and this has a manual adjustment. I didn't think it would matter, but it requires enough extra time and effort to adjust the stride that I just leave it on the longer setup for my husband. It's OK for me, but not ideal. A fitness nut we know has this one and loves it, and prefers the side wheel design, and the price was great at the time, so we bought it. We're happy with it, but next time I'll buy one with a power adjustment. They also failed to leave us a manual when it was delivered and I haven't asked for one yet so that's a bit of a pain. One note, unless you like to spend a long time and lots of special words putting it together, have it assembled for you. That way it's not your problem if it isn't assembled correctly. There's a ton of pieces. It took 3 guys at least an hour to put it together when it was delivered, and they'd done it before.
I bought mine a week ago and have used it and like it. One of the selling points was that it was quiet. After getting it together there is a noise coming from the pin that adjusts the stride. I called NordicTrack and they are sending a new pin and parts no questions. Also I found it online with a Labor Day weekend special; called customer service at the store and they have credited the difference back to me again no questions they just had to verify that in fact it was on sale for less than I paid. The only thing I don't like is that every time I speak to someone they are trying to sell the extend warranty.
For a reasonably priced, home use, machine, that gives you a great workout, you can't beat this one. We had it delivered & assembled for us & that was well worth every penny. My husband can go 45 minutes on the ellipticals at his gym, and had trouble doing 30 minutes on one of these endurance programs. I haven't been to a gym in over a year & count only go 15 minutes on level 3! We have plenty of room for growth into this machine!
